Have we got too many players? Got this off wikipedia to save time: 1 England GK Luke Steele 2 England DF Bobby Hassell (captain) - lol 3 England DF Scott Golbourne 4 England DF Tom Kennedy 5 Wales DF Lewin Nyatanga 6 England DF Martin Cranie 7 Scotland MF Jim O'Brien 8 Republic of Ireland MF Stephen Dawson 9 Trinidad and Tobago FW Jason Scotland 10 England FW Chris O'Grady 11 England MF David Perkins 12 England GK Ben Alnwick 13 England FW Chris Dagnall 14 England DF Scott Wiseman 15 Scotland DF Jim McNulty 16 England FW Dale Jennings 17 England MF Paul Digby 18 England DF Andrai Jones 19 Poland MF Tomasz Cywka 21 England MF Jacob Mellis 22 France DF Jean-Yves M'voto 23 Nigeria MF Kelvin Etuhu 24 England FW Reuben Noble-Lazarus 29 Ghana FW John Cofie 30 Wales GK Christian Dibble 32 England FW Danny Rose Northern Ireland MF Paddy McCourt Whats Flicker going to do with this lot? Way too many to fit them all in one squad. Some are going to be very disappointed for a lot of the season, especially if we bring Dicker in too. My guess is Cofie, Hassell, RNL and Rose won't get a look in, Cywka and McNulty won't play much and Dawson will leave in January
Re: Perhaps That's all I can think of too. I make that 28 that have made an appearance for us (plus the two we've just signed) and that seems way too big.
Some of them are development players but even then it does look big so I imagine some will be leaving either on loan or permanently.
Re: Perhaps Maybe Mellis is going..? the reason for his 60 min game time.. an offer too good to turn down ?..who knows. Are we getting the replacement in first...McCourt, backed up by Jennings...and id love to see RNL given a chance in that role behind the strikers. All 3 I think could do a excellent job in attacking centre-mid...
Re: "season long loan" "signed till the end f the season"... so errrm I don't think that's too big a squad considering that some of them are out on loan anyway (Jones and Clarke), several others are development/U21 players who have been given a squad number, and I reckon they'll be trying to find the likes of McNulty a new club, wouldn't surprise me if a senior midfielder such as Dawson ended up leaving as well.
So that's where all the English footballers are hiding. Heard a figure of only 33% English (75 players) played in the opening weekend's Premier League fixtures.
