But Hecky went to Leeds because he was desperate to get out - and NOT because it was Leeds..

He had turned down Forest and Sunderland hoping things would improve at Barnsley.
When they didn’t - that is when he told Ganaye that the next club that comes in for me I’m going to leave.
Unfortunately for Hecky - that club was Leeds.

remember our chat when this thing kicked off bright red?? There was always going to be a side to the saga which would be revealed and which wasn't going to be pleasant.
you've summed it up really....his self interest was more important to him than either the fans or the club. I wish him all the best for the future and I hope he's successful but theres no denying that his God like status amongst many on here was a bit extreme.
Deep inside, given that we all feel we know the kind of bloke he is, I would hope his conscience has been pricked by what he has done. I'd be surprised if it wasn't.

If you are comparing stendel to hecky

Hecky took over a team on a 8 game winning run already in a final.

Stendel took over a relegated one and then had last seasons top scorer sold.

Hecky was blessed with one of the best midfielders I've seen in a red shirt just behind redfern and higgy. But the best set piece taker.

Stendel had to get us promoted having his top midfielder sold in january and his top scorer injured from February until the end of season.

Stendel finished league one on a record points total for bfc.

Stendel had us unbeaten at home all season.

Stendel had the best defensive record in the division

Stendels football was the best I have seen since wilson in 97.

The board then dismantled his team for profits and gave him young players from mickey mouse leagues to work miracles with. The players sold all had at least 1 year left kieffer moore had 2 and half years left so did potts.

The key players sold under hecky winnall and conor had 6 months left and were bought with the owners own money.

Not many called hecky a Judas his club of choice was questioned after previously saying he grew up disliking leeds. His managerial skills were questioned and since leaving us has been a complete failure.

Disagree see my reply to churtonred how much credit can you credit hecky in regards the jpt. We were already in the final all he had to do was beat a team in the division below who had their influential midfielder who now plays in the premiership out injured.

I'm not making adverse comparisons of one to the other. I just think the differing reaction to their exits has been a bit bizarre.

Not sure alot on here were upset hecky left and to where he went, to some he could do no wrong (not sure if it was the one of our own thing) to others we were on a downward spiral and it could have done us good but the replacement was awful. It was mixed.

With stendel I never met him never had a pint with him, I liked how he took over a relegated side and put his stamp on them, got them playing nice stuff, I liked his bond with the players and how he got the best out of mowatt, pinnock, mcgheehan, cavare etc who were tossed to the side by previous managers, I enjoyed the bond with the fans, and his passion on the touchline, he gave us a full season unbeaten at home, he also had key player sold in both windows that season and his top scorer injured for 4 months.
When we were promoted he had his team ripped apart, he never got the experience he asked for, but to be fair to the bloke he never slagged the young players off after defeats, I was disappointed he was sacked because it seemed he had been stitched up by the board.

To be honest I think both managers were. I was disappointed when they left, and don't blame either of them one bit. They were both pushed too far.

With hecky I'm not sure how we could have kept the players he lost? Winnall and conor had 6 months left both wanted to go, so did bree. Watkins put a transfer request in the when it was rejected just ran his contract down scowen also ran his contract down and left for nothing. Hecky had 2 seasons to replace the players and was also able to bring in loans with championship experience.
