You are probably right. He is now working at a level where the only way he would drop down isif he wanted to be a manager. Nice if it did happen though.
wonder if him and Davis have any kind of relationship though? Sometimes the thought of being part of a team (like Flitcroft with Hill) at a former club could be too good to turn down. If you take out the takeover nonsense, I think we're an attractive proposition for any up and coming manager - despite some of the thoughts on here.
I knew what you were meaning, I was intimating that I don't know if they were close just played together. The written word is sometimes unclear.
It's not that bfc can't be arsed to aspire to anything. Ticket prices are reasonable in todays climate looking at costs in the top 3 leagues. We just can't compete with the income of other clubs. Would make no difference if it was 18 quid in. We are suffering in the modern game which is all about money and not management. We do what we can to survive. And fans deserting us for punching above our weight is not helping.
i would have Watson as manager any day. ive said this in previous keith out posts. hes a barnsley lad through and through
But he's a goal-keeping coach with no managerial experience. Even if he is a Barnsley lad, it'd be the biggest gamble we've ever took. As for Davis, what would he do so differently to Hill? No doubt he'd have to bring in lower league players and ones no one else want, just like Hill.
you sometimes need to take a gamble. Nigel Adkins was just a physio! What would Davis do differently to Hill? Hopefully try and pick a settled XI, sign players in positions we need, make the team more organised, and get the Oakwell faithful behind him as we try to keep ourselves in this division. 8 wins in 42 games ....
i don't really get This thought process of bringing in an ex player as a manager. I don't see what extra they bring to the table, other than probably having a longer honeymoon period at the beginning of their tenure. The notion they 'love' the club and would put in an additional amount of effort in order to succeed over someone without previous connection appears, to me, to be nothing more than romantic ideology. Clubs such as Leeds United & Sheffield Wednesday in particular seem to have bought into the theory historically without the success to back up the approach on a regular enough basis. If we were to appoint Steve Davis and he was successful, that would be down to his abilities as a manager, not because he played for us in the 1990's, in my opinion.
I think you are right but at this time we need a manager who can galvanise us and believe that the club can aim higher and achieve more.
I don't of anyone Who'd tick all the boxes for our fans in the present situation. If the takeover is not some unsubstantiated, 'pie in the sky' fantasy, the potential new owners will probably have their own man ready to move in.
They probably will but as it stands I fear it is no closer to happening but would like to know either way as this uncertainty could be having a negative impact on the situation. A man who comes in and has a bit more positivity and belief in what this club can achieve and who is willing to drop the tippy tappy football and make us hard to beat.
I have no problems with possession football Provided there's an end product, in that it creates chances. There has to be pace and zip about the play, especially in the final third of the pitch, in order to present problems for the opposition.
