First a big thank you to Baby JLWBL for reminding us of Steve's funeral yesterday. The current Mrs Didcot Red and I attended it. It was a very emotional occasion for us both as I have known Steve for over 40 years and TCMDR built up a special relationship with him over the few years she knew him. We also regard Mrs S as a very special lady.

The local methodist chapel in Embsay, where they lived most of thier married life, was full with standing room only at the back. The servie was very mving and his son, Tim showed great courage in reading WH Auden's famous poem to the congregation, something I would not have been able to do.

It is difficult to imagine that we will not be meeting him at Oakwell again. We hope to meet up with Deirdre in the new year. If this comes off I will let you all know how she is geeting on.

As I said last week he will be remembered by all who visit this site for his courage and his humour through a prolonged fight against cancer. I can only hope that if a similar misfortune befalls me I can face it as Steve did.

    RIP my old mate.
