This season more than any other I've been struck by how small the difference between success and failure is in football. Chelsea, last year's champions, sank without trace following the Dr Eva incident. Leicester, without very many changes from being last year's relegation fodder, became champions. Barnsley, bottom of the league at Christmas and looking at plying their trade with Morecambe next year, made relatively small changes and might now be playing Aston Villa and Newcastle. At the beginning of weekend there might have been two divisions separating us and Sheffield Wednesday, one division, or we might be playing each other next year.
