Looking for a DVD recorder that will record off digital, preferably onto a hard disk as well, that is HD complient. It does not need to make tea. All (so called) witty responses will be sneered at. So there.
RE: <Sneer> Does not have a digital tuner. ? Mine records off digital. Might have put the wrong model no. up. Have a look thro' the range though.
What tha want an 'ard disk for? Only gonna brek darn.... Tha can get a "disc only" Panasonic from Richer Sounds for £109.
If you want hard drive, tuner and DVD recording you're going to struggle to get a quality unit at much less than that. You can cut my hedges if you like.
Hmmm. Has any standard for terrestrial HD broadcasting? I can't find any freeview kit yet with such capability. Something you might consider is the Humax PVR-9200T They're about 200 sheets. It's a Hard Disc recorder with twin freeview tuners (so you can record 2 things simultaneously on separate channels, or watch one whilst recording another. It also has a USB2.0 socket with software to allow connection to a PC with 2-way file transfers - ie you can send programmes as MPEG files to your PC and send, for example MP3 files, from PC to machine to play in your living room. The only thing you need a DVD recorder for is making portable copies, eg you tape a program and your mate wants to borrow it. Most of the time you'd just use the hard disc and for the odd thing you want to burn off, do it from the PC. This assumes, of course, that your PC has a DVD writer.
Heard good reports about them Humax PVRs, however In the latest ARGOS there's a Digifusion 80GB twin tuner for £124.99, a goodmans with same spec for £129.99 and a Sagem for £179.99. I know bog all about 'em like, but there's plenty money to be saved there.
True enough The selling points of the Humax are the 160GB drive and the USB output. I was just thinking it might remove the need for one with built in DVD recorder if he could transfer the programmes to his PC for editing and burning to DVD. That said, a cheaper freeview PVR, one of those DVD recorders Aldi are knocking out for £70 and a £2 scart lead off Barnsley market might make some sense...
He needn't struggle too hard http://www.247electrical.co.uk/epag...EN/Product/SONRDRHX710?STS=247&source=KDP Same unit. £57 change in the back pocket.
