#swfc DC on FFP: “Some don’t try to believe what I say. Experts don’t know more than me. Every club in the Champ, if you spend money and you stay in the same League then you’ll eventually break FFP rules. If I don’t spend you run the risk of relegation.” So. Basically admits it and that all clubs do it just to stay in the championship. About time the FA actually took this seriously and relegate all the ***** that do. What was it Swindon did all them years ago that was labelled financial irregularities. And we're dumped into league 2?
Rules certainly need enforcing if clubs are to take them seriously because as things stand they are being broken with impunity. I think the Swindon punishment of being relegated two leagues was due to improper payments to players so it proves that under certain circumstances, and with the right club, the authorities will take action. Sadly they seem to turn a blind eye a lot of the time.
And more.... #swfc DC on FFP: “The #EFL changed the regulations at the end of last season. We didn’t just break (FFP rules) a little we break alot - 8 figures. Don’t worry it won’t be as bad as it was before.” 8 f'kin figures....
So the higher earners like Westwood and Lee get replaced in the team by academy players and fans are expected to pay the same for a much poorer standard of football.
We’ve had this conversation before. All what FFP means is that owners CANNOT loan money to their clubs. They can however GIVE as much money as they want to their club. So obviously the wealthier the owner the more money they are able to give. SWFC owner is worth £420 million - so he has been able to provide backing. But clearly he’s not prepared to throw money down a bottomless pit that is Sheffield Wednesday.
He's admitted they broke FFP rules. He's said it. Loaning... giving... whatever. Doesn't come into it. He says they broke the rules to the tune of a minimum of 10 million.
They cannot give as much money as they want, that is complete ********. They are allowed something like £8 million per season max. They have obviously gone above this. If it was that easy then Man City would just blow 100s of millions. They do it sneakily in sponsorship and other dealings which has annoyed other european clubs - why bother if they can just give it to the club?!
Westwood is on circa. £34k a week. He is close to an automatic contract extension if he plays more games. Hence not played or named in any squad. He played all pre-season games bar one. The idea of not being in 1st team squad, is the hope he’ll force a move or loan himself come January. Trouble is, he’s 33ish, so has said he’ll sit his contract out and get a free move in Summer. He feels he’s been treated badly as they’ve not spoke to him about it and dumped him in U23s - despite being their best player for last 2-3 years. He’s in top 3 keepers for Champ and will get a decent club again. I’d have him at Oakwell, but we can’t afford him. For once, money aside, he’s been **** on. I don’t blame the player.
Id be interested in what the fans think.......i can remember not so long ago having a conversation with some owls fans and they were smarting that they had the likes of hooper and fletcher on £30 to £40 grand per week...their answer "yea but we get the crowds to pay for it!"...i tried saying but how sustainable is that etc....now things are turning nasy!
It's weird not playing two of their best players. When you aren't winning as often and your team isn't experienced, you shouldn't be charging the same. Imagine us getting shut of or stop playing the likes of Woodrow, Moore, Pinnock and Mowatt, raiding the developmental team of Disco to replace them not as fringe players but first team regulars and then trying to charge the same.
Absolutely spot on but Wednesday are cutting their nose to spite their face . If this Chansiri bloke has any intent of improving them hed insist on playing their best players . Anyway to conclude I couldn't give a toss x
They were all buzzing, giving it the massive jibes when they were splashing the cash. It’s all backfired and blown up in their face. It couldn’t happen to a better club for me
Does it need plugging though? Is our expenditure that high? Can't imagine anyone is on big money, we get decent crowds. I don't know btw just asking the question
