We used to fly people to the moon. Not any more. We used to be able to cross the Atlantic at supersonic speeds, getting to New York almost before we set off. No any more. We used to have re-usable space craft that could fly mission after mission after mission. Not any more. We used to have devices that would tape anything you wanted off the television. My beautiful, reliable 1990s VCR had a function where by if a programme was running late it would wait until it started before recording and would always record the whole show. My useless piece of **** 21st century PVR misses half the endings of the programmes I try to record if it even bothers recording at all. All my vinyl records, some getting on for 50 years old, still play perfectly while many of my CDs jump about like zebedee on speed. The wireless I was bought when I was 10 gets crystal clear FM radio while my DAB pile of pants sounds like all the programmes were recorded underwater. We used to be able to see in the dark. We had these amazing things called light bulbs which made our houses beautiful and bright. And if you wanted to say sew on a shirt button before you went out for the evening then it wasn't a problem at all. Now, with these energy saving articles, you haven't got a prayer. We lurch about in the gloom, banging in to stuff. We'll be back to living in caves before I die.
haha, brilliant that Jay. Ive often thought similar. Especially musical technology. I was passed down my grandads Sinatra vinyls. Some are 60 odd year old, yet they still play like a dream. Wheras last weekend, my copy of 'By The Way' by the Chili Peppers wouldnt for the life of it play without making Mr Kiedis sound like G-G-G-Gareth Gates!
