Outlook Express / Windows XP (Home Edition) / Zone Alarm When I click on a link contained in an e-mail it will not open Internet Explorer. I have to copy the URL, open Internet Explorer and paste the address, it is so annoying. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.
Have you got another browser installed? It could be a case of your email programme not knowing which browser to use. Close your email programme, open IE and goto Tools/Internet Options/Programmes and put a tick in the box that says Internet Explorer should check the default browser. Apply and then close IE, re-open and when it asks if you want it to be the default then select yes. Hopefully, that should cure your problem. If it doesn't then I'm buggered if I know what's wrong ff
RE: Try these Microsoft suggestions .... I am running Outlook Express 6 Although I have tried a number of things contained in there without success. Cheers mate
Here are a few more possibles then ... ...just for clarification are we talking about hyperlinks in emails sent to you or links in emails that you are in the process of typing and sending to someone else ? If it's the latter then it won't work as the links don't become active until you send the message anyway (or save it in the drafts folder).
If you hold the Ctrl key down when you click the link does that have any effect ?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q260238/
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;281679
Are there are any messages in your Event Log ? (Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer and look at System Log).

RE: Here are a few more possibles then ... It is my received emails, bear with me, I am a bit thick when it comes to PCs
This worked for me ...... From Start>Run ...type regsvr32 urlmon.dll then open Internet Explorer and go to Tools>Internet Options>Programs and click on 'Reset Web Settings'. Hope it helps (Y)
RE: Here are a few more possibles then ... Nothing happens when holding the Ctrl key down. Nothing shows in the events log when the hyperlink is selected.
