name changed to The White Bear anyone think it should have changed back to the royal and made into one big pub or left as it was
Not sure but wasn't it The White Bear before it was The Royal Hotel? (P.s. Earliest I remember it was the Royal)
Found it http://www.bddct.org.uk/history/history_b.html "At a public meeting on 15 October 1792 at the White Bear (now the Royal Hotel) in Barnsley" I believe it was renamed to the Royal Hotel after Victoria stayed there.
oh well fair enough lol... keep it as that then lol.. ad a glance inside yesterday still the same layout by the looks of things but a look more cleaner you can probably walk in with your shoes and walk out with them instead of them sticking to the floor like they use to
The assembly really seemed out of place It was more of a "Wellington Street" establishment - and was tarting to look a bit out of place alongside Blah Blah; Walkabout & Lucorum & Wetherspoons. I'd go so far as to say it was a sh*thole. Maybe the changes will bring it into line with what's there already. Having said that, it always looked pretty popular bar.
