None of that comes as a surprise to me. In the 80's and 90's going away with Barnsley was a battle unless you went on the official buses, and even then at places like Roker Park and Filbert Street we were sworn at, punched and hassled by the police on duty. I vividly remember getting off a bus at Roker Park on Boxing Day and the first copper facing me said "want some aggro yer Barnsley lovely person ?" He obviously hadn't seen me fight - wet paper bag and all that. Thank goodness the Liverpool supporter had film evidence - why isn't the officer who accused him of assault facing charges ? 2nd class citizens.

It really is about time something was done. There's more trouble on any Saturday night in any major town than at football matches. Imagine if the coppers met you and escorted you to a pub you didn't want to go to and didn't allow you to leave on an average night out.
