One person posts, with no authority for it, that two of the players were drunk, and its automatically believed and condemned. If thats the way its being done... We're signing Thierry Henry. I have nobody to collaborate my story, and I could just be talking absolute rubbish, but we're signing him.
But that's obvious ******** but Barnsley players getting pissed up a couple of daya prior to "a cup final" is plausible.
RE: But that's obvious ******** There is no proof whatsoever these players were drunk.Players get invited to opening nights and functions maybe they were having a laugh and larking about.I'm sure if they'ed have been stood in a corner miserable as sin people would have questioned team spirit.By the way the three players mentioned all trained on thursday morning.
if we win on setdy though, whos gunna care about it? as long as we put in a performance and beat bournmouth then that will do me. if howard, devaney and kay all play well what harm will being drunk 3 days before a game do???? none what so ever in my opinion.
RE: if we win on setdy though, whos gunna care about it? Medical opinion and research begs to differ. I don't see the harm in them having a laugh and a few drinks, but the original contrbutor claimed that Howard and Kay were hammered. That is not acceptable for proffesional athletes.
Controversial viewpoint They weren't drunk. End of story. Just some little ***** causing bother. The bloomingwit.

Excately!!!!
Thats what i tried to say yesterday, they weren't drunk when i saw them.
There is no proof.

i'm betting that if we win and them two put in good performances.... nothing more will be said on the matter by anyone on here. however if they play aweful and lose - then thats a different story altogether
i just dont know why people make a big deal of these sort of things. surely if your a fan you just get behind the team/players no matter what they've done. Dickov, Van Persie & Ronaldo have all been accused of rape and there fans have got behind them and not made a big deal out of it. so what the **** does a few drinks midweek mean - fook all. just leave em to it
Exactly.
Some people should put their efforts into gerrin behind t' team rather than whingin and moaning all the time.
6th int league FFS.

Brian Clough................................................... took his Forest side out on the piss the night before a European Cup Final which they won.
A few beers on a Wednesday won't have done our lads any harm at all. Unless of course they fell and injured themselves.
In my Athletic Club days I went out on the piss with International runners the night before a race on many occasions. The hardest drinkers Iv'e ever associated with were Athletes. You would be surprised at know who some of them were.
After one road race at Dinnington South Yorkshires finest drank the Dinnington Rugby Club dry. Happy Days.
If anyone was going to put the boot into the lads for having a beer or two it would be me and I am quite happy to see them chill out on a Wednesday.

No offence but you talk out of your arse sometimes If they were pissed then of course it can have an effect on performances.
Have you ever got pissed before? Good, then you'll know that you arent 100% the next day then?
How can you argue against that? Give me one good solid (or even flimsy) reason or argument against the statement that you arent 100% the day after getting absolutely paraletic.

To be fair to JC, Getting banjaxed is one thing but having a few bevvies even the day before a race for runners is quite common. Particularly for distance runners. Beer is a good source of carbs the day before a race!As for our footballers perhaps going out to a club is not good PR but who's to say they were pissed or even near.Storm in a teacup on this occaision. I will give them the benefit of the doubt.
I dont. Care to answer the question? Do you agree that you are not 100% the day after getting absolutly smashed? A simple yes or no will suffice
stan collymore used to shag people in carparks Get yourself darn to the local dogging place lads, you'll have a ball
RE: Pongo Waring.................................... And so that means he'd be able to cut it in the modern game ?
Stick to Sunday league kick & rush owd ****.

RE: Super tyke Our Lads were drinking on a Wednesday, they all trained on a Thursday.
It is well documented that Clough took his players out for a drink the night before some very important games including European ones. Fecking start reading.
A 3% loss of body weight due to dehydration leads to a 10%+ drop in physical performance. It was quite common for me to lose upto 6lbs in weight during races.
I also did long Sunday runs of upto 20 miles, more usually 13 miles, without drinking. My 13 mile run was from Wombwell to the top of Stainborough Low and back.
Have I been pissed? Probably more times than you ever have.
I have also suffered dehydration in a half marathon race when the water station which should have been at the 5 miles point was incorrectly stationed at 10 miles. Iv'e also had Hypothermia, thats Hypo not Hyper, in a South Yorkshire Cross Country Championship Race. So I have experienced distress at both Hot and Cold ends of the spectrum.
