I'm sure I heard that we're outperforming our XG massively at both ends of the pitch, which often points to a prolific goalscorer and good goalkeeper.

Probably a mix of players performing well and a bit of statistical variance (i.e. luck)

Skewed particularly by Port Vale at home which gave us an XG of 2.33

Definitely. I read about Oxford last season, who were still able to get relegated with about 2 games to go. They were massively underperforming both Xg's for and against, suggesting they converted few of the many chances they were taking, but conceding goals from the few chances they gave oppositions. Statistically, they should have been in the top 6, but because of poor finishing and general bad luck, they were almost relegated.
