Do you want a shovel with that post?

Bloke with mobility problems asks a fairly decent reasonable question, gets an unnecessary and dismissive reply.

He is the customer, she has offended him, she's also failed to show any attentiveness towards his needs. His post is justified in my opinion.

Not if she's 'helping', it would seem.

Perhaps her reply could of been a little more professional with an apology to match but I think your posts in this thread worse than her actions. Going on what you said happened i'd guess there was no disrespect intended from the turnstile attendant and maybe you took her comments a little too personal. Respect is a two way street I respect others when they respect me, elderly people included.

This is like platting fog. Try reading the whole thread and then you will see that my post, my original post, states that the original poster should calm down a bit because the tone of his post was disproportionate to the comments made by the girl. Was she rude? No not in my opinion. Was she unhelpful? Yes possibly but I don't know if she knew what was going on. Anyone who thinks the tone of the origional post was not a bit OTT is wrong; in my humble opinion of course.

Seemingly questioning the tone of post is completely out of ordinary in the eyes of some on here.

It came across to me as informal and friendly to be honest. A steward breaking from the script to actually give an informal light hearted response.
I wonder what row Jumper was sat on and how they intended to get to their seat. Perhaps somebody with such limited mobility would be better off buying tickets for a stand that doesn't require walking up a flight of steps to get to it (ie the ponty end) then they wouldnt need to beg for special treatment. Just a thought.

We also havent got a clue how bad his mobility actually is. She might have watched him walk all the way across the carpark at quite a pace for all we know. Somebody being an OAP doesn't instantly mean we have to treat them like the queen in my opinion.

That's how it came across to me too ST, like a bit of a light-hearted retort. It certainly did not come across as rude or even anything close to rude which is exactly why I questioned the tone of the post.

The only stand originally meant to open was the East Stand.so for him to go he had to get a ticket for there, unless he waited oviouslythen the other stands were opened as well. He actually wanted to use the Ponty entrance didn`t he? and asking if he could use that entrance is now called begging is it??????????
Sometimes the flaming attitudes of some people on here make me shake my head in disbelief.
Some of the replies aimed at the OP are arrogant and disrespectful. But that goes for a lot of the antics in Britain nowadays.

But you don't consider comparing someone to Hitler for the crime of not letting you go in a different entrance as having no respect!

I did read the whole thread. Thought he was right, she was rude, thought the original post was justified, think you're wrong.

I find this whole thread strange

We have one poster who tries to go through the wrong gate and because he wasnt waved through calls the attendent a tin pot Hitler

A long time ago I learned to be very careful when you only get one side of a story but you do wonder exactly what he said to get the response he reports

Id certainly need more than a message board post by someone using the tone of the initial post before I start condemning the person on the turnstiles, though it is possible she reacted badly its also possible that the fault lies elsewhere

You're entitled to your opinion and equally entitled to post it on here - of course had Adolph succeeded in his plan you may not be as free to post with impunity but that's another debate.

You hit the nail on the head Whitey. Sometimes I wonder if some people just like to jump on a band-wagon. I thought I was being quite reasonable and didn’t expect the wave of vitriol I got but its only words so let them keep having a go.

Just a few questions, answers please.

I've never been in the ponty end so, if he had been allowed through his gate of choice how would he gain access to his seat from there without encountering any steps. Also how does he normally get to his east stand seat? How did he get to the turnstile? If he has such dramatic issues that he can't climb any stairs why didn't he contact the club to explain his problems and ask for help in accessing the stadium ? ( they will have a duty to do this under the DDA. In this case a turnstyle operator will not have the authority or the time to attend to his problem.) I'm not been flippant asking these questions because there is an old guy in the east stand lower who seems to have had a stroke and needs a mobility scooter to get around and he rides his scooter to the steps and then with great difficulty climbs the steps to his seat, this takes him nearly 5 mins and when he descends the stairs he has to go down them backwards, all the stewards help him whenever he wants help. Now I don't know the posters disability but I bet it's not as bad as this guys and he doesn't ask for any special treatment.
