    REVIEW:
Before todays game looking at the line up i thought that our midfield looked decimated but still expected to come away with a win. How wrong was I. Southampton are by far the worst team to come to Oakwell in maybe 5 years. They were awful and never looked like creting a thing never mind scoring. As for Barnsley, chances were there, performance wasnt. If Simon Davey didnt know what we need to bring in before today, well now it showed by a mile. 3 Clear cut chances were spoiled by our lacklustre strikers and a midfield that just looked lost. Today I blame Simon Davey. Ok he had 5 or 6 1st team players out but the formation he picked today was so wrong. We lacked width, players looked lost and JCR ran his body into the ground but couldnt find anyones feet and therefore looked poor today. As for the strikers, well. I dont need to say anything here do I as 11,000 barnsley fans would all agree that they aint good enough and are now costing us results.

We started the game at half pace and from the kick off we could have took the lead after only 2 mins. Cureton clean through but blazed it over. From then on we were still at half pace but creating chances. Rigters was clean through and blazed wide. Macken had a few half chances but couldnt get them right. The amount of balls we blazed over the bar today from close and long range would have won us a rugby match just on conversions. Today we lacked heart and passion and just didnt seem bothered. I was very angry at full time. Simon got the formation wrong today and why he didnt change it, I just dont know. If he had the team in for a rollocking after the whistle then I hope someone took him in a room and gave him one. As a team from players to staff, today they got it all wrong and got punished for it.

Muller had nothing to do apart from get the ball out of the net for their goal. Foster did ok but looked a little shakey at RB, he is my no1 CB but he had to fill in there today due to injuries. Moore and Souza were solid and didnt really put a foot wrong. Van Homoet had his worst game this season today. He had nothing in front of him though and his passing was poor. Not a LB but like foster, had to play there due to injuries. JCR ran and ran into brick walls today. Kept going but created nothing. Needed to give early ball a bit more today. Today didnt cross the ball in the box at all. El Haimour looked lost. He looked like a lost puppy not knowing where to position himself. Rigters. Why the hell do we still have him. He was tommy tit today. Ok hes come on for some cameo and ran around a bit and looked interested. Today he was total opposite. Waste of space today. Macken has lost his touch. He looks sluggish and wasnt doing anything today. Cureton had some chances that maybe should have put one away, especially one in 1st half. Finds himself in goalscoring positions naturally but didnt score.

I still think this squad is short of 4 or 5 players to becoming an established mid table side. 2 Strikers are a definite MUST, a winger is looking more likely, a CM with an attacking mind is needed and maybe some cover for the back 4. Hopefully we will see some movement in the next few week.

Add to that the fact that the crowd were quiet today hence nothing to get excited about
