Overall, I think Mowbray has done a pretty good job for Blackburn. He took over at a time when the atmosphere at the club was toxic, with the Venky's and Owen Coyle competing for the fan's venom. Managed to get them out of League 1, and bring a number of players through the academy. There have been 4 or 5 first team regulars that came through their academy this season. But he's not exactly done it on the cheap. Their League 1 side included the core of their Championship side that had gone down with 50 points, including the likes of Mulgrew and Graham who were on big contracts. Since promotion their wage bill would be well beyond anything we would pay, with players like Downing and Johnson adding experience to the side, but likely earning more than our top earners. Armstrong was reportedly bought for £4m, Gallagher for £5m and Brereton for £7m. There's no chance that he'd want to come to work for these owners, but I can't make my mind up on whether he'd be a good choice or not anyway. He might be able the sort of appointment that could stabilise things in the short term, but whether he can do it with the little resources we'd have, I'm not so sure.
He's clearly an excellent coach. Not a chance he would work with our set-up. Plays decent quality football and obviously has good man management skills. I think he'll take a break and get back into the game in his own time. Agree he did a really good job at Ewood Park. I see him very much like Mark Warburton.
