The way I see it, the mess we are in today is simply down to the following: 1. Ritchies failure to strengthen the squad in the summer 2. The Boards failure to employ an experienced manager as his replacement. The combination of these two issues is why we are probably going down.
Was it Ritchie who failed to strengthen?
We see the board dismiss Ritchie and claim he didn't match the Board's ambitions.
Then we see the Board's managerial appointment and the standard of the players they've brought in.
Says to me we were looking at it the wrong way round - Ritchie's ambitons weren't lower than the Board's, they were higher!

Also, inexperienced ,naivity on the boards' part Shepherd's dealings (or not) as the case may be, in the transfer market, The Macindoe saga(loan then a paltry fee)Constantine fiasco, Numerous so called 'nailed on transfers' that fell through.
no mate, the mess we are in today is due to just one thing.....Gordon Shepherd and his obsession with the bank balance
Are you coming up on Monday , mate ? Although as thee & me aren't proper fans ( according to some ) , perhaps we shouldn't darken Oakwell's doorstep !!
The Fat Greengrocer wernt notorious for splashing the cash, but as an ex director said to me only fri of this week, he did know his football and was respected throughout the game.
I dont agree that Gordon Shepherd watches the pennies If so why did he waste £50,000 on Mattis. Not to mention a few other wastefull expenses.
RE: And the be back in Admin nt No, I don't think so. I doubt he'd make the same mistakes again, and it's unlikely the circumstances would allow him to.
What he did wrong last time was to believe that ITV were honourable people, who would pay up what they'd agree to - rather than the shysters they proved to be. (How the F*K can they be allowed anywhere NEAR a football deal again??)
So, he spent money he hadn't yet got, but had farly good reason to assume he would get. A lot of other Chairmen did the same.

And then took the club ino ADMIN - without referral to other shareholders If he came back into running the club - I would stop going
If only it were so simple If it were then why has he melted into the background since we fell into admin? His silence was/is deafening.
IMHO it's about one thing and one thing only... Nobody has sorted the defence out. It was **** in the division below, and it is still **** now. If we had invested in the defence, and coached and prepared it properly, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are now.
