Not been on bbs for a couple of days people gunning for Davey sack. When are people gunna realise that chopping and changing managers does not help. Obviously we have underperformed this econd half of the season, in the league anyway. But if we stay up then to sack Davey would be ridiculous.
It seems to have helped Crystal Palace and Sheff Utd Not that I'm advocating sacking Davey, but the old adage that changing managers doesn't help is a load of ballacks. If you've got a **** manager and you change him for a good one then your results will improve.
RE: It seems to have helped Crystal Palace and Sheff Utd yes of course I wanted them to change Steve Parkin immediately. But I think the jury is still out on Davey. If we stay up then I don't think that is failure nd doesn't warrant the sack.
i'm willing to give davey one more season to show us what he has to offer as a manager if we fail to finish above 16th next season then i think he should leave
RE: I don't either mate By what criteria do Barnsley deserve to be other than where we are now (i.e hovering above championship relegation and aspiring to mid table obscurity)?
I never said we deserved to be anywhere I said I'd want substantial improvement from the team. Deserve has nothing to do with it.
We've had far too many managers over the past 10 years so I reckon we should stick with Davey although his team selections are bewildering, the player fall outs seem like he's cutting his nose off to spite his face (as an outsider looking in obviously) and his inability to change things round during a game a down right frustrating. He just doesn't know how to change things but hopefully he'll put those qualifications of his we hear so much about to use next season instead of just waving his hand from side to side with his other hand in his pocket and shouting at the linesman! Give him til Xmas.
*Ahem*....without actually ... doing the researce. Havn't 4 of the bottom 5 clubs in the Premiership all changed horses this season? Whereas only one (and he resigned allegedly) from the top half have done the same. Don't know how, or even if you could prove it statistically, but gut feel says it's preferable to stick with what you have. Chopping about certainly did us no favours in the early 2000's. Mind you, if they hadn't sacked Spackman I'd have had to have shot him.
Not heard of any hard evidence that anyone has 'fallen out' with SD. It's just conjecture brought about by the fact that one or two havn't played. Perhaps they are just not good enough in SD's view - and personally I'd rather take his view than some of the intellectual punditry (for the want etc....) on here.
Why? Why should he leave? You may have an argument if the club had ploughed as much money into the team as say, West Brom or Watford, but Barnsley exist on a shoe-string budget, can only pay lower than average wages and has a manager that can occasionally get the very best out of a team full of, shall we say, not quite household names. Frankly, when Saturday comes around and we are putting a side out against the likes of Leicester, West Brom, Coventry etc and not Halifax and Exeter (both places with a bigger catchment than us) then I for one am just delighted. The genuinely nervous times during administration do not need to be repeated.
