I have been told by someone involved with this team that Chelsea asked Barnsley under 18s to take part in a tourno with a host of top clubs.

When Chelsea made contact with the club, they were told that the chairman would not fund a bus to take the team down hence knocking the chance for them to play. Reason was that they couldn't afford it.

Disgraceful if its true!(NOOO) (NOOO) (NOOO)

Money being spent on AFC rather than BFC.

I'd take that with a pinch of salt, if I was you.

Besides, we don't know the details of the tournament (friendly or whatever) and what other costs might have been involved.

However, it is about time that some fans realised that there is simply NO money available at Oakwell right now.
We can't keep on asking Patrick to bail us out - and the sooner people realise both those facts and accept them,
then the sooner we can move on.

Good result for the U-18's today though - 2-all draw at Ipswich, who were last year's FA Cup winners.

How do you figure that one??

Isn't Gordon Shepherd our chairman?? And he certainly DOESN'T spend money on AFC!

Yeah but a few hundred quid for a bus.. Now surely the club are not that skint!

If the club are that skint they should look at the other places where they are throwing money away! Not just talk about it, actually do something about it..

Regardless of what sort of tourno it was, experience of playing against top clubs young talent is the way to develop to a higher level and awareness of the game!
