Dawson isn't a scapegoat, no one questions his effort, he really puts a shift in, he's a grafter. He simply lacks guile, craft or potency. When he starts instead of Etuhu. Stays on when Mellis goes off, then to me it seems like favouritism. I think he's Flickers puppy dog. Sometimes the game seems to pass him by, literally. He doesn't get in position fast enough and he does far too much arm waving and directing traffic. He was good enough today, did a good job, it certainly wasn't his fault we dropped two points today. If he keeps playing him though, it'll cost us, we have better on the bench and we need our best players on the pitch.
Dawson gives us drive, bite, commitment and goals from midfield. I take the point that he and Perkins together lack the necessary height and presence, and once Kelv is fit it is likely only one will start. But some posts of late about him offering nothing are nonsense. His graft allows Mellis to play and forces the opposition in to giving away the ball. He, like all the midfield, were poor after Mellis went off because they were on top of each other, but up till then he played well
I agree, I thought Kennedy had a good game too and put a peach of a ball through for the first goal. Dawson did ok too but I think you're right that he is the new BFC scapegoat. Well there has to be one.
It's all about opinions. In my opinion Scott Wiseman is one of the most dependable players we have on the books. He' s made for that back 3 position. TK also. Sweet left foot. Hardly ever puts a pass astray.
Played well today and should have carried on as we were instead of preserving a 2 goal lead! Shame but we will learn from it and hopefully next time go for a 3 rd and kill it off all together.....
Hope so. So far this season we have **** ourselves in the first game and failed to react when it was obvious than Wigan were dominating Dawson and Perkins, then gone negative at Blackpool. Got it right today up to the sub of Mellis. Difference to me is we knew it was **** or bust last season so the mentality had to be positive.
Agree that Steele made a mistake for the first goal, his punch was weak. That said his save from their only shot in the 1st half was outstanding. Retrospectively, Church should have been taken out when 40 yards from goal. Lets take our chances at 2-1, down to 10 men with 20-25(?) minutes left.
That's where I think we're going wrong....playing to accommodate the opposition sometimes. If we play our best team and dictate the play like we did at times last year we will be fine. All this talk about playing without fear last season seems to have gone out of the window and until we get it back were going to be edgy and struggle to get over the line in games as today proved. I mean management and players when I say that because the decisions off the pitch have a massive bearing on what happens on it as we saw today. There's a long way to go yet and I'm confident we will be fine but we need that first win to settle down I feel......Bring on Blackburn.
You mean steele should have caught the one which he managed to punch with one arm outstretched? Really?
