Xenophobia from our good old papers?...

Gadzooks! Nay! .... I was under the impression that what i read in my paper of my choice was the honest, gospel, truth? As if!! :(( Having ventured into foreign shores following England i've noticed that on occasions the press have more than bent the 'truth'.... in fact they stir everything up and then sit back...... two days later comes the condemnation...... beautiful people aren't they?

I was trying to avoid this debate...

...'cos I'm a bit bored of arguing about this sort of **** day in day out and I'm sure you guys need a bit of time to wash your white robes every now and again (joke!) but now someone has mentioned that sour faced old bag...

Getting the monk on 'cos someone asked her to take off her crown? Imagine if someone'd asked her to do summat difficult like get up at the crack of dawn to go and clean some f**kin' toilets?! They'd be clearing out the rooms in the Tower Of London as we speak...

Sad thing is, when the tabloid press aren't fawning over a celebrity or shooting one down, they're busy making their own news agenda. Not pretending the broadsheets don't have a bias, but at least there's some real news in there rather than just opinion, ****-stirring and comment with the occassional fact thrown in for good measure.

Can't remember who said it, but I think the best thing ever said about the tabloid press in Britain was along the lines of: "You can only beleive one thing in there. Look at the top corner of every right hand page: You'll find the date."

    From Yes, Prime Minister:

Hacker: Don't tell me about the press. I know exactly who reads the papers: The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country; The Guardian is read by people who think they ought to run the country; The Times is read by people who actually do run the country; the Daily Mail is read by the wives of the people who run the country; the Financial Times is read by people who own the country; the Morning Star is read by people who think the country ought to be run by another country; and the The Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it is.

Sir Humphrey: Prime Minister, what about the people who read The Sun?

Bernard: Sun readers don't care who runs the country, as long as she's got big tits.

Gaz lad..... spot on! (Y) Our wonderful educated boys in the press build a person up (classic case Gazza) and then afterwards they're like sodding vultures attempting to ruin the person's life.
I've seen the press get a few kickings at certain games and to be honest i've never felt anything for the horrible smug Barstewards! Journalism went out the window several years ago, god knows when (?), when it became fashionable to hound people etc.

He said: "These people have actively sought British citizenship because they want to make a contribution to the UK.

did they fight two world wars , have they contributed NI for the last four generations...

"In 2006 alone, its accounts reveal payments of more than £12.7million - almost £250,000 a week".

slightly more than the tax payers of Rotherham recieved for flood damage to roads, parks, schools, community halls, houses, businesses, etc.. in fact 12.68mill more.

What a total tosspot, exactly the type of person that is running our country into the ground, get him sacked now.

    :((

Don't get me started about the bloody royals, mate...

People grumble about immigrants (and I'm prepared to accept there's a lot of valid opinions on the subject even those with which I don't agree) but one thing I know for sure is that I've got more in common with a Pole or Albanian who works in a factory for minimum wage or a Muslim doctor (except the ones who like Jeeps, of course!) who works in that greatest of all British institutions, the NHS, than I will ever, ever have with that bunch of debauched, arrogant, pampered set of parasites who've never done so much as a stroke in their bloody lives...

    I knew I shouldn't have got started!!!

    :)

    RE: Took you

i don´t sit on this forum constantly... that is why...

so why question why i am a barnsley supporter? to you it can seem that if i don´t like your governments policy, i don´t like england?

so please, try to read what you wrote again. there is no doubt what you meant. that one of the criteria for supporting an english club is to ass lick your government.

No the one and only criteria for supporting Barnsley is

    THE LOVE OF THE CLUB.
What you are getting mixed up with is the reallity of the Middle Eastern crisis, Sadam Hussain needed to be stopped, if the world had had the guts to do the same in the 30`s with Hitler then your own Country may not haqve been undert a puppet rule for years and the elected GOVERNMENT would not have had to sit over here in London, being looked after by us Brits.
    Quisling ring any bells ?????

NO!! you asked how i could be a barnsley fan when i did not like your governments policy. are you dysalectic?

to remind you, This is what you wrote:
tell us again Why you are a Barnsley fan, you do know that Barnsley is in the UK!!
Because you keep saying " Your country" you don't seem to like the UK much do you!

You never asked me why i support Barnsley FC. But if it is that you want to know i tell you why.

a coinsident really.. at school, to be something you had to support Man U or Liverpool..so i got tired of that and when i got home from school i picked up the newspaper and found Barnsley. as Barnsley, my hometown was a mining town. (ore) that was about 1985-86
