I can’t see how they will have been able to move ST holders for one game but I could be wrong . I know they had old kop and west stand lower and the bit of west stand upper we always gave to away fans. One for the Historians to solve maybe.
You are right, they did. The one that sticks in my mind was the year we got promoted to the Prem. QfvckingPR ended our 100 per cent record and their fans were in the west upper, closest to the away end. They had a new owner and were singing his name for much of the game. Chrissy Wright, Wright, Wright. I'm not sure why I remember it so specifically but I do.
I can remember plenty of people complaining at the time, but I don't know wether it was because they had to move seats or just because we gave them so many tickets
Not like Barnsley fans to moan lol I’m not 100% sure but if they didn’t want to move I caouldnt see how club could make them tbh and surely it would be breaking a contract. As I said not totally sure but I’d be very interested to hear what actually happened from someone who genuinely knows . I’m intrigued
Maybe counselling could help. Lol It was a period where the fans weren’t turning up pre miners strike numbers but we were still holding our own on the pitch
Yeah probably so , As I said I’d be very interested to hear what really occurred and if we did give them the whole stand . I think we only had east stand as Pontyend were under construction if memory serves . I can remember being at the game but not stands were what lol
As I said I’m not sure but I can remember being in east stand for some reason , maybe I wanted a change or summat but I was sat straight opposite players tunnel . Which for me nowadays is a fantastic achievement memory wise lol
Remember us playing them in a night game- could even have been a Friday- there were a few Sunderland fans in the Ponty - fans cottoned on and stewards were altered. They were escorted through the concourse at half time but refused to go quietly- they sang Sunderland at the top of their voices - one Barnsley fans ran up to one of them and knocked him out with one punch before walking away. Stewards just looked at each other

They arrogantly thought they'd walk the league and got served.. Very enjoyable watching, really hope they don't go up this season.
