because when you ram it in your gob at half time, you tend to make growling noises. Have a try on saturday.
RE: because fair point and bieng a fat greedy ******* i will, but apart from that why is it called a Growler ?????
Too much watching Look North eh S) They made it out to sound like it was something rude i.e "cant tell people why at this hour" was bugging me why they call it that also
Forces slang of course,,,,,,,,,,, originaly Navy like all the best ones, Due to sub standard meats and often salt pork or pork that had weevils etc in it was baked into pies to disguise the fact (Now it goes into curries of course lol) It was the sound made bt the guts of everyone that ate it,,, hence growler for growling. Also a NAAFI growler is defined as,,,,,,,,,, Warm, soggy, greasy pie or pasty from a NAAFI vending machine or fast food counter. Countains suspicious lumps of assorted colours and textures, of wildly varying temperatures (from nearly frozen lumps through to boiling soft bits and sauce), and is wrapped in deliciously oily and compressed pastry. Probably served in a paperbag or on a cardboard tray, to ensure that the greasiness is obvious to the consumer, who would otherwise think he had been sold a sub-standard growler.
