No but if you can run , then it makes the rest of your game easier Also a defender needs to be able to get to the ball before the striker.
RE: No but if you can run , then it makes the rest of your game easier I agree that it is brilliant if you do have pace but it isn't everything. Beckham, for example, has never had any pace but he has been a great player.
Yes but he was blessed with ABILITY by the bucket load not many defenders can get away with being slow, unless they can read the opponents and use their brains instead of pace. Souza and Moore are not good enough to do that. They are good at defending big lumps forward , but will struggle against players that use pace against them, not saying that either of them is a bad player.

I agree with that, that is why I said I wished he was half as good, then England would have a chance at winning things!!!
