Is everyone obsessed with pace in a player, not every player needs to have pace for christ sake.

No but if you can run , then it makes the rest of your game easier

Also a defender needs to be able to get to the ball before the striker.

I agree that it is brilliant if you do have pace but it isn't everything. Beckham, for example, has never had any pace but he has been a great player.

Yes but he was blessed with ABILITY by the bucket load

not many defenders can get away with being slow, unless they can read the opponents and use their brains instead of pace. Souza and Moore are not good enough to do that.
They are good at defending big lumps forward , but will struggle against players that use pace against them, not saying that either of them is a bad player.

I know what you mean. I saw him play loads of times.

He knew what the opposition were going to do before they did. He read the game very well which was perhaps his biggest strengh. Very quick to spot danger.

How can you mention Terry in the same breath as Bobby, over paid and over rated IMLO.

I agree with that, that is why I said I wished he was half as good, then England would have a chance at winning things!!!

Sheringham was another blessed with zilch pace and he played late into his 30's at the highest level
