RE: I think we have reached the point of fundamental disagreement. No - we can't even agree on what the disagreement is. That's just your version of it. Fundementally you believe in 'look after yourself and **** the rest' - you blame others for not being able to look after themselves. I can understand that it is not always possible for people to turn themselves into millionaires and that we should live in a country that strengthens communities and looks after the weaker members of society who genuinely need help. Don't worry about me - I do well enough and I'm not a millionaire by any means - but I count my blessings every day. It doesn't stop me from having a social conscience or understanding that the survival of the fittest mentality has been tried before and it failed before. It also turns society into a cruel and sorry place to be (Thatcher's Britain, or worse, Hitler's Germany).
RE: Tory Sweatshops then then again I dont like labour handing out my hard earned to help the fecking workshy of this country have a permanent holiday and having more spare cash to spend on their leisure time than I have either,
I struggle to take him seriously. He was in Year 11 when I was in Year 7 at Wath Comp and he swanned about the place like a reight upper class toss pot, an 'I'm vastly superior to you' fop with his nose in the air. Got some reight pillock and most of it his own fault.
RE: I think we have reached the point of fundamental disagreement. I don't blame anyone for not be ABLE to look after themselves. I do blame those who are able but chose not to. I don't say I'm alright **** the rest. I say I'm alright and if I'm not its' MY job to get me out of it so long as I am able. Maybe our interpretations of ABLE are slightly different but pretty much everything else I agree with. But I don't see how a family with sky tv, smoking 40 fags a day and taking benefits left right and centre are "weaker members of society who genuinely need help. "
RE: I think we have reached the point of fundamental disagreement. Well who said anything about a family with sky tv smoking 40 fags a day on benefit? And you forgot to mention how much money they waste on booze and scratch cards. If you want to believe everything you're fed by the daily mail there's no wonder you're so in love with society in general. You carry on looking after yourself Jack, you're alright.
RE: 19 millionaires in the Shadow Cabinet. that would infer that the Labour lot do and to be honest theres hardly anybody that gets in there that keeps a grasp of reality never mind the average man
Don't mind Hague.....but Osborne and "Dave" Bullingdon boy t****rs. Cameron's even related to the Queen FFS, think when he gets into power they're going to look after us in the North? Don't make me laugh.
politics is a load of ***** in my opinion. they're all the same. couldn't give a flying fck if the so called labour government stays in or the so called tories.
Anyone who thinks the Tories would do better than Labour has a very short or selective memory. The Tories have only looked after the rich. The problem with Labour is they have continued to let the working class of the UK be ripped off by a greed minority. This was always much worse under the Tories though. The first thing Maggie did was to cut the taxes of the rich sell of the industries we now pay through the nose to use, e.g. gas and electricity, Water, railways. Any Nationallised industry which made money was sold off cheap to her Tory friends. I can't think of any policies the Tories have which are better than Labour.
RE: Anyone who thinks the Tories would do better than Labour has a very short or selective memory. They have policies? I thought they just ad libbed.
RE: 19 millionaires in the Shadow Cabinet. I bet none of 'em have ever set foot in a chip shop or ordered a pint of real ale.
RE: Anyone who thinks the Tories would do better than Labour has a very short or selective memory. Completely agree - a lot of the previously nationalised companies were sold off in an election year to fund cuts in income tax and as you say we have to pay through the nose - to foreign companies. I think it's impossible to reverse this trend now unfortunately so in some way Labour had to continue what was previously set in motion.
Wind-up alert I'm not saying that I think the current government is anything special, but unless you are super minted the tories coming to power will not benefit anyone on this board, they are a party for the rich and the upper classes only. As far as I'm concerned the only good tory is a dead one. Period.
Don't forget the damage which that BITCH did to our region and our families.

Agree totally I can compare the help working families got under the Tories and have been getting under Labour and there is no comparison. Labour's Working Tax Credit is far, far more generous than the Tories Family Credit used to be. Those at the lower end of the wage scale can get ready to be much worse off if there is a change of government.
