Gunnar Halle

If I recall. Archdeacon was around six feet away from him, just outside right hand corner of box. Halle started his run, then fell to the floor, with Blackadder still no nearer (he was backing off). Penalty.

That was in the VERY early days of Barnsley's presence on t'internet. I think we just had the mailing list back then, but someone had managed to get a close-up video clip of it which was circulated far & wide. Folk in my office couldn't believe how bad a decision it was!!

'Someone' rather unwisely passed around Mr Cain's home address & phone number to anyone that wanted it. Lived in Bootle, I think. Don't think anything came of it, although I've never seen him since, so maybe........

Barry Knight is the worst referee I've ever seen.

Gurnham Singh is next on my list. He even took the FA to court citing racial prejudice because he wasn't progressing up the leagues. Newsflash for you Gurnham - no it's because you were /poo !

After his disgraceful performance on saturday against Leeds, Mark Clattenburg replaces Lester Shapter as my third choice.

    All of them (clown)

Gary Willard by a country mile

    everything a referee shouldn't be.

ironically - one of his worse decisions that game i thought , was giving us that penalty - jud dived - he'd completely lost control by that point.

mind you, wouldn't change the little fecker for the world - one of the best 90 minutes i have ever witnessed.

coming back against liverpool with 9 men

    now THAT was a team.......magical

    George Courtney

was pretty bad and got lots of stick from us - to be fair he used to take it on the chin and have a laugh with the crowd. Read an article about him last week - his son was a top class lawyer and ended up topping himself.

Willard was bad - our cup game against utd was on sky last week and he was refffing the next game they showed

    RE: George Courtney

Was it Courtney who ref'd the cup replay at elland rd when we lost 4-1. Should have sent the donkey McClelland off for a professional foul and didn't even book him. Six months later was reading some footy mag and Georgy boy said that McClelland was his favourate player.

He once reffed a Blackburn vs Reds Game

Gave Blackburn 2 pens I think for f'all.

All 3000+ barnsley fans sang with venom "YOU BLACK *******, YOU BLACK *******, YOU...." while pointing at George while pointing at him.

His titty lip was well and truly out and I'm sure he was crying.

I think it was this one.

    English Division 2 (old)
    Blackburn 4 (0) - 2(0) Barnsley

    on 11-04-1987

He was one of those ref's who was determined to be centre stage

Did you go to the Blackburn, when that fan ran up to the dugout and confronted Sniffer. It was his last game in charge. I saw us three times in Lancashire that week. Oldham, Blackpool in the league cup and Blackburn. We lost all three.

    I was there

Clarkey probably had one track suit leg rolled up as usual when he'd lost it! Think this was the game English Division 2 (old) Blackburn 5 (0) - 0(0) Barnsley on 30-09-1989
