BARNSLEY Football Club have slashed ticket prices for the forthcoming FA Cup Third Round clash with Walsall at Oakwell.

The Reds will have had a string of home matches through the already expensive Christmas period and, as a gesture of goodwill, have agreed with Walsall FC to reduce admission prices to £15.00 for adults and £8.00 concessions.

These prices apply to tickets in the East Stand, Enterprise plc Stand and West Stand as well as for visiting supporters.

Barnsley entertain the Saddlers on Saturday January 7, 2006, KO 3.00pm.

Further information regarding on sale dates and priority booking for season ticket holders will be confirmed shortly.

    It's better than nowt

I'd prefer prices to be reduced even further, but at least they're doing something. I believe £15 is reasonable at this level, where as £20 is just too much. I hope there's a bumper crowd for the game. The way the team are playing they deserve to be seen.

    Excellent

Well done BFC. I doff my cap in your general direction.

A tenner would've been better but ne'er mind.

I'll have 2.5% of gate receipts for the idea though.

better than nowt but nowhere near good enough

they've knocked a measly two quid off the price of a league game for a ticket in the ponty and this is for a cup game just after christmas when the club itself admits the fans finances have been stretched.

local derby against bradford (normally a catagory A) was 17 quid in the ponty. Ticket against walsall (normally catagory B) would presumably be two quid cheaper anyway (as per the clubs league pricing policy)

17 minus 2 equals 15 so I dont think that having the discount in line with the clubs general pricing policy of having 'distant' games 2 quid cheaper than local derby's as 'slashing' prices really.

10 quid or even 12 would have been slashing and would have beena gesture. 15 is just in line with the A and B system.

    I second your 'well done'

It was something a few of us on here were asking for only yesterday. Whether they listened to us or already had the idea in mind matters not. Fact is they've done it and it would be churlish to complain the reduction is not enough.

I shall definitely be parting with my £15. Had it been a category A game I doubt I would have.

Well done B.F.C. £15 about right for 3rd round. Now will you please stop categorising matches for next season.

    Well

If we continue to complain when prices are reduced compared to usual league prices, why would they bother doing it again in future? Yesterday we were asking for a venture of this kind and today they've done it. You can't ask for more than that. Surely if we take advantage of this scheme and the fans turn up in numbers and prove that they are willing to back the club under a fair pricing policy then the club are far more likely to make further reductions for future matches. If all we do is continue to complain they'll just think "F.uk 'em", and probably rightly so.

    where is the reduction?

17 quid for a catagory A cup match. 15 quid for a catagory B cup match. 2 quid difference between the local derby and a 'distance' game which is exactly the same as the difference between the prices when playing bradford and walsall in the league.

I think that it is a cleverly written piece by Rob Knowles in claiming that prices have been slashed but it doesnt mean that I am going to believe that they have indeed been slashed, it is just spin put on the pricing by the club to generate sales. Like when you see a sale in a shop windows with discounts of 'up to 50%' and when you get in theres a penny off everything except one really **** item thats half price.

For what it's worth I think that 15 quid is a fair price and i'll be going but I dont think that the prices have been slashed at all and don't think there was any goodwill gesture involved in the decision not to charge the same amount against walsall as we did against bradford in a local derby. I think the 15 pound price was more about the club knowing that it made sense to charge that and not about them thinking they would give us something back.

    Mmm.

You'd better stay home for the next 4 matches.
When that little letter turns up you'll have sixty pounds sterling to find from somewhere.
I suggest you trade in some cushions.
Or sell some of your head wool.
