Word has it that our new LB didn't get legal clearance in time - not that he ain't fit enough.

Smith was great today.

He was sloppy in possession in his first few games but his passing was quality today, several good ones to the forwards on his weaker right foot as well.

 

Smith has a fair bit to learn.

Although he gets into trouble by almost always thinking of a constructive forward pass rather than doing what Ashley Cole spent 75% of his time doing - playing it backwards.

If he shot off with the ball back to his goal more often he would look safe and tidy.

But i'm glad he looks forward whenever he gets it. Positive rather than negative.

 

I like young smith he,s going to be some player you see when he gets more games under his belt.

 

He's only just 18, this is his first season and he's always going to make mistakes. But he's already a massive improvement on last years left back, and probably on a par with Dudgeon. And he's just 18.

 

I'm starting to like Smith, I think sometimes we forget how young some of these players are

 

I think I'm biased because I know the lad, through a friend. But at Bumhole Lane in particular he gave a masterclass in how to play full back.

 

He gets better every game . Just needs more confidence when attacking to get past the full back
