I'm just filling in the Yorkshire Post Fans Questionnaire. What are your thoughts on: Your view of the forthcoming season. (100 words, first person on the fan's views for the season) Key man: (for all these bullet point answers, a sentence pls...) Potential boo-boy: Advice to manager: What will make or break your season? What changes do the club need to make off the field? Which team you want to beat the most and why? Who will be promoted: Who will be relegated: Predicted finish:
1. The second half of last season was the worst I have ever seen as a Barnsley supporter and I have not seen any evidence this about to change. Very disillusioned with the club from the play staff to the "board" and can only see one unfortunate outcome. 2. Key Man - Jacob Mellis 3. Mido 4. Give it up - you're out of your depth 5. Lack of transfer activity and ambition will break it. 6. We need to appoint a Chief Exec or promote the club secretary to this position and give him some authority to make decisions. We also need to appoint a marketing team. We do NOT need a dodgy benefactor. 7. Sheffield Wednesday. It's a MASSIVE game for us. 8. Wolves, Leicester, Blackpool 9. Barnsley, Millwall, Palace 10. 24th
Key man: Chris Dagnall Potential boo-boy: Hemsworth Tyke Advice to manager: Listen to Hemsworth Tyke What will make or break your season? Winning games What changes do the club need to make off the field? A lot Which team you want to beat the most and why? I want us to beat everybody, but will plump for Wednesday, as they're MASSIVE, tossers Who will be promoted: Barnsley FC, Millwall and Crystal Palace Who will be relegated: Leeds, Wednesday and Burnley Predicted finish: 1st
Key man: Luke Steele again, feel he could have another busy season Potential boo-boy: (Does this mean our team or an opponent?) Us, Mido if he's not the next Vaz Te as everyone is hoping. Opponent, Michael Brown, the fat *******. Advice to manager: Don't blame the fans for everything, sometimes it isn't our fault. What will make or break your season? A good first half, because we always seem to divebomb after christmas. What changes do the club need to make off the field? Marketing is pretty p!ss poor, the club are doing very little to get the crowds in, and Oakwell is starting to seem very boring on matchdays Which team you want to beat the most and why? We've got Leeds conquered, so Huddersfield will do this year. Who will be promoted: Bolton, Blackpool and I reckon .....Birmingham Who will be relegated: Milwall, Bristol City and Peterborough Predicted finish: 18th, but any higher would suprise me tbh, financially we're being left behind.
Your view of the forthcoming season: I'm looking forward to it and am hoping for big things from the likes of Silva, Mellis & Mido. I believe there'll be steady progress on the field, with the emergence of one or two young players from the Academy (Digby & Stones looking the pick of the present bunch). Unfortunately, the club appears to make blunder after blunder off the pitch. Whilst this continues, I can only see slow progress being possible for Keith Hill and his staff. The club must also do a great deal better when looking after it's current fans and enticing back into the fold the disenchanted ones. Key man: Jacob Mellis, who will be taking over the mantle of Butterfield as the team's creative midfielder. Potential boo-boy: Scott Wiseman, who struggled more than any other of last season's newcomers to make the step up in class on a consistent basis. Advice to manager: Try to understand and appreciate the level of frustration felt by a large number of the fan base with the club's lack of progress since promotion six years ago. What will make or break your season? If Davies & Mido can get into double figures in their goal tally, then mid table security beckons. If they don't, then the club may well struggle again. What changes do the club need to make off the field? They need to adopt an obvious and positive long term attitude that inspires confidence from the fans, rather than the current negative, cheap and short term one presently being pursued. Which team you want to beat the most and why? Huddersfield Town, I absolutely detest the club, fans and town beyond any logical reason. Who will be promoted: Bolton, Middlesbrough & Wolves, as all have a decent squad already and posses the ability to strengthen their squads further. Who will be relegated: Crystal Palace, Bristol City & Derby (one of the bigger clubs usually goes down from the Division). Predicted finish: 16th. The optimist in me sees us having enough to avoid a relegation battle, but not nearly enough to challenge for the Play Offs.
Your view of the forthcoming season: I think we're in better shape going into the new season than last season, mainly because a lot of the signings last year have had chance to find their feet at this level. If Mido sheds a few pounds he could be a great signing and fire us to safety early on. Key man: Jordan Clark - after seeing Butterfield depart I think we're all hopeful that someone steps up and adds the creativity we seriously lacked after Christmas last season. I think our academy lads have shown some real promise and Jordan Clark seems to be that creative outlet that we might become reliant on. Potential boo-boy: Scott Wiseman - after a difficult first season in the Championship he's already got his doubters. His boo-boy status is compunded by the fact he's keeping Bobby Hassell and John Stones out of the team. Advice to manager: Keep doing what you're doing. What will make or break your season? Not breaking up our squad in January. We made that mistake last year and it very nearly cost us. What changes do the club need to make off the field? The board needs to stop selling our players for a pittance, especially in January. I understand that we need to balance the books, but we're getting a reputation for selling players at bargain prices. Which team you want to beat the most and why? Any team who are likely to finish around us in the table. If you beat your competition you're likely to stay up. Who will be promoted: Wolves, Bolton, Middlesbrough Who will be relegated: Charlton, Peterborough, Millwall Predicted finish: 15th
Your view of the forthcoming season: hard work, we have a squad assembled on free transfers, youth team players and lower league bargains, we need to become a team greater than the some of its equal parts however we can and will suprise a few who predict we will finish 24th as usual Key man: luke steele, the best goalkeeper in the league however only has 12 month left on his contract Potential boo-boy: mido, has the highest reputation of any player in recent times, fans wont be shy to let him know if he doesnt pull his(considerable) weight Advice to manager: stick to what you believe in, dont sell our key players in january ( see key man above!) What will make or break your season: the period after the january sales What changes do the club need to make off the field: a proper attitude to business, do something to arrest the feeling that we are just "drifting along". Which team you want to beat the most and why: leeds and sheffield Who will be promoted: bolton , wolves and blackpool Who will be relegated: millwall, charlton and bristol city Predicted finish: 18th
Key man: difficult one, if mido gets into match shape then he has the ability to win games single handed. If not Steele will be mom a few times. Potential boo-boy: wiseman. Overall poor in his first season and wouldn't get dropped for Micah Richards. Unless he picks his game up then he will be facing a lot of the fans anger. Advice to manager: Powder puff defence needs sorting What will make or break your season? Whether we have enough in the squad to give other often bigger teams in terms of budget a game. Everyone's expecting us to go down without a whimper and see us as an easy six points. What changes do the club need to make off the field? Reorganisation of the office staff and some positive off the field leadership Which team you want to beat the most and why? Huddersfield why not? Who will be promoted: hate to say it but Leeds. Who will be relegated: Predicted finish:
