Personally, I think that was just a bad period in time though(musically)

, ok there was a couple of bands that were quite good(at covering other artists tunes) , but the original material was very hard to come by.. Luckily there was a large under ground scene that kept the music live, unfortunatlysome of these bands were never recorded due to "lack of funds"although some of thesegroups were the foundation ofmost bands today.

Its sad to see now though, a lot of wm clubs and pubs are closeing down(when I say alot that means well over half...at least)and unless people get involved (this could mean as little as buying a raffle ticket once a year)to keep them openalot of these communal hubs will cease to exsist.

And that will be a shame.

    To you an I.

    Help your local club.**NOW!!**.

    :)

Pubs have never recovered from the relaxation of licensing hours

And probably never will as the community attitude towards drinking has been, on the whole, lost.

Punk as a music genre is overated,Velvet Underground were doing it years before Malcolm McClarens manufactured Sex Pistols appeared ,a seventies Monkeys or Archies band

Vast difference between the arty, super rich efforts of the Velvets and NYD's compared to the UK punk explosion where anyone could have a go whoever they were and whatever their budget. The legacy it left produced much better music than the original bands (Pistols etc) but The Clash inspired many more people to pick up a guitar or bass than Lou Reed or Sylvain Sylvain ever did. Punk produced very little good music but inspired a hell of a lot and blew away the cobwebs that had gathered around manufactured pop music (glam) and hobbit botherers (prog).
