Pretty sure I've heard Hecky address this earlier in the season & due to budget restrictions we don't have a foreign scouting network, that could've changed with the Stones, Mawson, Hourihane, Bree & Winnall money though

I don't think we will be increasing the cost base

Anderson da Silva played football beautifully.

I think we have done pretty well over the years signing from abroad.

Sone of our best signings though Marcelle, Bosancic and the god like de Zeeuw were signed on the recommendation of Sir Bobby Robson not sure we can attract that calibre of scout these days!!!

Apart from all the scouting and logistical problems of finding foreign players I imagine it's a lot harder to convince foreign players to move to Barnsley than it is to sign an English player simply because the town itself doesn't have a great reputation for being trendy and the vocal minority of Neanderthals have wrongly given the town a bit of a reputation for being racist.

The scouting system isn't that much different to signing players in England i'd imagine especially at the lower levels. A lot of the initial scouting will be done from computer systems.

Living in England. We've signed players from the south. I'd imagine a lot of places are more like this area than parts of west London which Mawson came from I think.

The difference with attracting players though is that a lad from London will know that Leeds is quite a 'cool' city and will know he close that is so will move to Leeds and play for us. Somebody from Spain wouldn't necessarily know that or realise he close it is.

I agree with the scouting but don't forget that after the computer stage you have to send somebody out to watch and it costs more and takes longer to send somebody to Spain to scout instead of sending them to Norfolk.

I think the OP's figures come from cloud cuckooland, but there is a point to be made with foreign players to some respect.

I suspect language is a key factor, as if you are going to model players quickly, you need to be able to communicate clearly.

If you think they are wrong then say why.
It's a quick guess yes from what I've seen about other clubs. http://www.rothbiz.co.uk/2016/04/news-4895-rotherham-uniteds-financial.html

From that I see Rotherham's turnover was 11 million before an increase in TV/ solidarity payments of 4 million?

Now I'd guess we are similar and maybe a little in front although Rotherham apparently do well commercially. Although I think they only get low 6000 season ticket sales which will be 2/3,000 lower than us this season.

We haven't got an income of anywhere near 20/30 million. Our turnover won't be 10 million. Player sales aren't part of turnover, they are asset sales & the cash is not all paid at once anyway. There is no way we have 20 million to spend on transfers and wages.
