The OBR figures showed it would cost £6bn if we reduced immigration by 80,000. She wants to reduce it by double that.

Labour were heavily criticised for wanting to set inheritance tax threshold of £425,000. The Conservatives are going for under a quarter of that.

News that the Torys chief election strategist Sir Lynton Crosby
has allegedly trousered a six figure payout from a firm residing in a tax haven.
John Pugh (Lib Dems) has commented " the Chancellor claims he wants Companies to pay their fair share internationally
yet the man driving the Tory election campaign that will only benefit the rich turns out to have received money from a company
registered in a tax haven. He should not be involved in the Tory election campaign."

Sir Lyntons Main claim to fame is he devised the term "strong and stable".
An Aussie by birth Sir Lynton was due a payment of £160k but as he is a nom-Dom for tax purposes he won't pay tax
so long as it does not come into the UK.

One A. Hitler beat him to it by about 80 years. It is used in Mein Kampf.

That's a whole other argument though isn't it? Will an average persons contributions cover the cost of a hospital based childbirth so why aren't we asking people to pay for that?

Yeah but Corbyn sat on the floor of a train once and that's all that matters in the end.

I once slept on the aisle of a train and was kicked awake by Italian border guards waving a pistol in my face. Later that same day another Italian policeman waved a machine gun in my face and shouted what could have been obscenities at me in Italian.

I once took a 40km train journey in Cambodia. It took 12 hours. We were held up by the police about half an hour in and they proceeded to load up lots of illegal logging for about 6 hours at gunpoint. It were lovely.

"The average person's lifetime national insurance contributions amount to three fifths of bugger all."
Individually, yes, but collectively much more. How much support for chronic conditions do you think bupa will provide?
The NI pot is what covers all, whether you need help or not.

Dont get me wrong - I was and still am a staunch remainer. I dont need to be convinced of the benefits of remaining in the EU - but i was responding to Tyrone saying that the Brexiteers voted for all the other extreme right Tory policies when many were either voting to control immegration or our ability to make our own laws ... oh I see what he meant now :)

What does really annoy me apart from the fact we are heading for the most right wing government since Thatcher - in fact probably even more so, is the Brexit campain laughed at the idea we would be worse off and insisted we would be better off after leaving

Yes it's costed. It might be playing politics but it was smart to announce it the day before the last day of voter registration 2.5 million added - and rising.

    Tory lead down to 7%.

The NHS pot is being stretched thin. Why not top it up by taking people's homes when they no longer need them? Why should society stump up seven grand a month so the kids can rent out their parents' old home?

It is not only the Dementia Tax the tory's are hitting the elderly with what about the triple lock on pensions and a mean's tested fuel allowance of which no one knows how that will work not even May knows, I was also reading the BBC top dogs are saying means testing is a good thing and if May gets in there going to means test the over 75's on the licence fee.
We can get ready for 4 years of very hard austerity if this gang of fraudsters get back in and I dare not think about May and her side kick Davis in the Brexit talks in what they will do to this country.

So you think its just fine that someone who is careful with their money pays their taxes and buys a home and saves it to to pass on to their children should be penalised by having to pay all their care costs but someone else who spends everything never buys a house maybe never even works should have all their care costs paid by the state

With the high cost of houses these days, many people are leaving home later and might actually still live in the house with their parents. Imagine caring for your parents through such an illness then losing your home to pay for the extra care they had while they were ill.

    Austerity, Austerity, Austerity.

Another U Turn from the "Strong and Stable" one.
The Tories got the so called 'Dementia Tax' badly wrong and underestimated the public backlash.
Theresa May , speaking in Wales this morning, was struggling to suppress her rage during the Q&A session.
Fiercely defending the ill thought out tax as "Right and Proper !"
she was white lipped with anger defending this vile tax.

    Cashing in on people's homes.

Is there no end to what these grasping, opportunistic chancers will go to pursue their hated ideology?
Profit before people every single time.
My hatred and loathing for them holds no bounds.

They are also allegedly considering scrapping free school meals which will affect close on 1 million school kids.
To offset that they are saying they will provide free breakfasts. How many kids are going to get into school early to take advantage of that.?
They are of course contemplating some reductions. Surprise surprise the two main areas could well be Corporation tax and Capital Gains tax.!
