Recruitment - a sign we're doing things right

There's lots to be negative about as a Barnsley fan (apparently)...and it's usually as a result of frustration that we're told we shouldn't dream big (ala King Keef). However, one sign that we're doing things right is our policy to recruitment.

Surely it's not just me that gets excited when we sign a player? In previous years we'd sign some washed-up has-been who could barely be arsed or were completely ***** (Tony Vaughan, Paul Gibbs, Leroy Lita, Andy Johnson etc) but now we sign genuinely exciting talent. Whenever we sign someone I think "if we're signing him...he must have something".

Needless to say, not every player makes the grade but it's great to know that we could be signing the next England star.

After watching us sign Mallan, McCarthy and hopefully Lindsey - I'm excited for the new season.

Been really impressed with who we have brought in so far and who we are rumoured to be getting soon (Lindsay, Mcgeehan). I am really excited to see who else we go for and would love to see us maybe dip into the French market using the links the new CEO has to get some young talented players from over there.

I reckon I could play for Scotland if Scott Brown does!

 

I know a Wednesday fan who is envious of the way barnsley sign young players and then make a profit. He's fed up of them signing has beens and paying them top dollar and not achieving anything

 

You need to remind him that it's hard to stay (relatively) successful when selling players for profit is the modus operandi.
