We've sold a player, so what. We brought in a player to replace him last night for what seems to be a very good fee. Listening to him I'm optimistic about what he will bring. He will offer a balance to the backline and if PH doesn't decide to play a ft6'3 defender at left back then it should go pretty well. He should be good on the ball but will have that raw nature which should be gone after 6 months. On Roberts. I'm honestly not too bothered. For me, he's got a lot of to learn and it includes the basics. I got infuriated with balls been played forward going straight over peoples head and out for a goal-kick or missing close-range passes of the 10/15 range. He wasn't like us on here, not a Barnsley fan and we are just another club for him like Wakefield and Halifax to where he wants to get too. It's quite funny that he's joined Birmingham imo because I remember he was moaning to someone at a u21 match I attend a few seasons ago that he couldn't go to Birmingham Let's get on with it. 10 days until the Friendly's start. Seeing we are wanting another 1/2 before the camp.
Always disappointing to see good players leave. Has always happened. I feel a little like I did when we let Arjan de Zeeuw go in 99, a centre half who arguably we didn't replace in terms of quality and dominance until Mawson and Roberts signed. When, and I mean this respectfully, older BBS posters and fans in the stands speak of Roberts (and Mawson) in the same vein as Ian Evans, Mick McCarthy, Gerry Taggart and de Zeeuw, we should know that replacing them is difficult to say the least. And with Roberts, we're losing more than just a colossal defender such has been his impact on our club. It's been a pleasure to watch the guy play for us. But our new signings now have the chance to make their mark on our club now and good luck to them. It'd be lovely if, in a year or two, we're talking about them as being as good as Roberts, Mawson, De Zeeuw........... Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
