I understand why we signed all these players, Collins is probably the most bizarre one to be fair but the rest are straight forward albeit they have little bearing on the first team. Jackson and Tutton were signed for the development squad in hope they'd turn out to be the next Jamie Vardy or summat. Not expensive signings, their wages I reckon for the last year probably wouldn't equal say Adam Hammill's for 6 months. Boulding wasn't getting paid the 2nd time around, he was putting himself in the shop window in the hope that he could find another league 2 team as opposed to dropping into the conference. I can't see any harm in that situation whatsoever. I am of the opinion that Elliott Lee was signed for the sole purpose to help the transfer of George Moncur. It could also be an indicator for some of the earlier problems that Moncur had when he signed. I think Collins was signed to help out Port Vale. Barely played then was moved on shortly after. I can't help but notice that 3 of the 5 you've pointed out are from the last 18 or so months. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
Pollitt was the most ridiculous. Was that when Flicker lost the plot? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Richard Kell, Michael Boulding (2nd time), Danny Nardiello (4th time), Jeronimo Neuman (absolute sh*te, signed purely for his name), Mike Pollitt
But without Jeronimo we would never have witnessed reds fans at Coventry amusing themselves with "wailing" in a Red Indian manner. What the **** do you call it?
Looking back, Bassett was just the Redknapp of his day with club chairman seemingly willing to throw all kinds of money in their direction when the previous managers weren't given any kind of support. The 'legacy' of Bassett's reign nearly cost us the club.
Apparently it's a 'Death Wail' - a ritual performed after the death of a tribe or family member. I'd like to thank Google and Wikipedia for this insight.
The reason I put Jackson as my no 1 was because it was a signing that would obviously never work out in a million years. He might fit in with the strategy in that he was young and more importantly cheap. However, he was never going to be good enough. Not in a million years. Four goals in 36 games in the Conference probably translates to about minus ten in the Championship. A quick look on Soccerbase would tell you all you need to know.
I think Collins was signed to help out Port Vale. Barely played then was moved on shortly after. I think he barely played because of his, erm, personal problems as much as his crapness.
Wasn't there something to do with his phD too? Something about him having to practice medicine every so ofter as to not lose it, so he would have had to have time off training which Bassett didn't like. Sure I remember something like that, but I may have been pissed...
Surprised nobody has mentioned El Hamour or whatever his name was Leon Crooks Kevin Dixon Dwayne Mattis Rohan Ricketts Michael Mifsud (albeit loan) O'Neil Thompson
I spoke to Neil Austin about Warhurst's debut (wendies at home) a few month ago. Apparently, he was wearing the wrong kind of boots altogether! Moulded studs or something. Not surprising that he was sent off for a very late tackle after bout half an hour. I think we went on to draw 1-1, Anthony Kay got a worldie.
Maceo Rigters, one of the worst players I have ever seen play for Barnsley and some how played 19 times for us
