No new bids according to Hecky in his pre match press conference 2 hours ago. Reading between the lines, Yiadom been advised to make public interview by his representatives. Hecky happy to deal with everything in house so that fans don't turn on him. Pretty much said, Yiadom has made it clear that no amount of money would keep him at the club as he wants to play in the Premier league. But bids received so far aren't at the clubs valuation of him.
Unless we mean what we say and tell players under contract they can go when it's in BFC's interest we are going to be picked off time and time again by players and their agents. Winnall was just the start. There are lots of guys who want to play elsewhere, but their clubs stand firm. I accept Barnsley are a platform to bigger clubs, but since January we have been a doormat.
Best all round, not good for team morale having an unsettled player in the ranks. http://amp.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...adom-to-have-huddersfield-medical_304582.html
We've gone from signing crap players on over inflated wages to finding and developing more than half a dozen quality ones for relatively little money and selling them on for a large profit, with future sell-on fees included. By any measure this is a significant improvement in both the football and business side of the club. Credit must go to our scouting network as we've clearly got some excellent judges of what we need. The issue has been that so much of this has happened quickly and the plan has perhaps worked better than we thought it might. As a result we've been caught on the hop with replacements and it's left the squad thin on the ground. Hopefully we can now build the squad back up and where necessary spend a little more money that gives us access to players who were previously out of range transfer fee wise. We have to accept we're going to be picked off for players because we cant compete with wages. This will always be a sticking point but if we can get a good squad together with coverage in all positions there's no reason we cant be successful if/when we come to sell any more players on. Edit: no plan is guaranteed to work. Top clubs spend hundreds of millions and fail. The point is this is our best chance of developing a team and keeping the club financially secure. It's not without risks, but if anyone has better suggestions then drop the board a letter
Nah, I've heard we played hardball and held out for some hundreds and thousands plus a waffle cone too. Barry is enjoying the change to the normal biscuits
I don't have a problem with him going because of the way hes behaved, and when he made it clear he wanted to leave I thought right lets get rid. Its been suggested that £3 mill was offered, or something nearer £2.5 mill if its part of a cash & player deal. I do and will have a problem though if we do sod all with the money and just spend a teeny little bit of it on another unknown kid, thats absolutely the last thing we should do with this transfer fee.
I think with the opening few games the board may realise we are way out of our depth this season, Mike Sheron's on his way for £2.2 million.
We're like an episode of Leftovers one minute they are here next departed . I'm going to start smoking , wearing white and standing outside Oakwell not speaking to anyone ( that won't mean anything if you haven't seen the series)
