Adam's contract runs out in the summer - should we already be talking and trying to tie him down for at least another year, if not two? He's on absolute peak form at the moment and is playing as well as he ever has and is fitter than ever too. The effort he puts in is immense and sets an example to all. He's head and shoulders above some of the lads ability wise and has the desire and passion to go with it.
Agree with all that plus chuck in the way that he's communicating with McCarthy telling him what he wants and where to go to pick up on the overlap. Those two are building up a good partnership.
On his day he's the player with the greatest flair and threat, the one you'd turn up to watch on his own. Someone with experience also needs to carry some of the younger players at times. He has attributes that no other players at the club have and he's had as many good games this season already as I saw him have last. I'd get a one year extension on the table pronto.
He's confident and doing well. The fans appreciate him and when he came back he said he shouldn't have left. On top he also has fought his way into the starting eleven. This must be the perfect time to sit down with him.
That is a really good shout. In my opinion that lad should be tied down to a long contract and be given a coaching development plan. His heart is truly in this club and he is an inspiration. In the quest for some proper succession planning were doing good. Bobby, Disco, etc .........we should tie Adam in because he truly understands the besting heart of this great old club.
Feel like he's earnt it for what he's done for the club and I love watching him play for us. Can't ask for more in a Barnsley player than what he gives. He just gets it, and you can see how much it means to him and that he aprreciates the fans backing him.
Hammill will go down as a barnsley legend; for me the impact he has had on our club makes him one of the best - how he turned our season around in league 1 his goals in the Wembley finals and the only player I remember for a long time who seems to care about the club and fans. I would give him another 3 years to see his career out with us. He has been fantastic this season and will be the main reason other than hecky that we will stay up and have an exciting season.
If he stays fit and works hard he can be a top end championship player for at least 3 or 4 years. I hope it's with us. He's bloody fantastic and glad he's showing it this season.
No doubt for me, extend it by a year, perhaps a rolling contract. So important to us on and off the pitch. Although I don't think he's someone who will be massively sought after by clubs offering more money, and I don't think he'd have any intention of leaving for more money a second time
The lad works his nuts off, and he feels for the club in the same way as supporters do. He absolutely, totally cares. Get him signed up, and he can help bring our youngsters on as well as smash up Championship teams with one swish of his boot. I have had man-crushes on lots of Barnsley players, but Hammill is really special. Talented, a grafter, and a senior pro whom everyone can look up to. He has given us everything. He deserves a new contract, and if he stays around Barnsley when his career is over I hope he need never buy another drink. Get that contract offered. He's in love with us.
Virtuoso performance today, worth the entrance money on its own. Great when all the young players ran up to applaud or pat him on the way off when he was subbed. They knew that he'd led by example and had Sunderland tied up in knots. This season so far its like he knew he had to step up to the plate after all the departures, has got himself very fit and focused and is delivering in spades. (Just wish Hecky'd put him on corner taking duties too!)
Hope he sees out his career with us and then goes into coaching with us . Class today and effort today was inspiring other players too
Yes without a doubt - and give him a proper contract not a one year rolling affair. Priceless in this team and we can probably offering a coaching role too at some point. Make no mistake - he was the outstanding player on that pitch today.
