By David Preece. Great to see he holds the Club and Hecky in such high regard. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport...-better-acquisition-than-sunderland-1-8728767
A testament to Hecky more like. I hope nobody reads it to be honest, we need Hecky to stay for as long as possible and while people are lamenting his managerial prowess, it won't be long until he is stolen away from us.
I think under most scenarios this was looking like his last season with us under the current setup. If we'd gone up or down we'd have kept him. Anything in between would get him major credit and really put him on the radar of other clubs. Maybe the takeover and the prospect of being able to build without losing his main players might be enough to keep him. That and, what I would hope would be a nice pay rise, to go with it.
Well that will appease the Sunderland fans that came down last week.... safe in the knowledge they lost to a superior team all round !
Well I have been given that information by someone at the club when he initially rejected the job. Pat Cryne and the board tried to get him on the cheap (around 2 1/2 K a week) he told them to shove it, he was only willing to become manager on the same terms as the previous one. Which I admire him for, however where do we draw the line on how much the manager earns? 7K a week is a lot. Its over 350K a year. Not bad for a Royston lad.
We are a better prospect to take over than most, because whilst we are passionate, after years of toil, our aspirations are not as high as some of the so called bigger Clubs. Take Arsenal at the moment for example. If you look at Piers Morgans rants on Twitter you would think that the Gunners had never had any success. If Messrs Lee/Conway and Hecky can get the balance right, as far as Barnsley FC is concerned, it just might be light the blue touchpaper and stand back time.!
I wish I was on it. There are plenty who'd have us paying 15k a week plus to players. I don't know where you'd draw the line with PH but in my eyes he's probably on course to be the best manager I've ever seen at Oakwell and that goes all the way back to Jock Steele. I'd be happy to see him get more than 7k given the current market.
I'd say if someone in the Finance Dept at Oakwell is broadcasting what the manager's salary is they want their arse kicking.
I detest the man. He has a long running spat with Alan Sugar. They regularly trade vile insults. Morgans pet hat is Arsene Wenger and he wages a constant campaign to get him sacked. It gets really amusing. Some of the abuse Morgan gets from other Twitters is brilliant.
Well I I for one, wouldn't want hecky's job... on any salary! 350k a year... I actually think he does a great job for that, and if that is true, well done to him.
