They had months to sign him. Clubs should stop this last minute ******

Oh dear, did they use the fax machine from the old disused offices in Sheffield again. Instead of backing them, the fa should be secretly grinning at their bad luck.

On the face of it, it looks like a very high-handed piece of work by FIFA. If we are to believe what Leicester are saying, almost all the paperwork was in place. It was only the odd section which didn't beat the deadline. By intention and action, both clubs had beaten the deadline. More anti-English sentiments from FIFA? Would Real Madrid, or PSG have had the same response from them?

Real Madrid had exactly the same response 2 years earlier to the day when they sent the final form for De Gea's transfer seconds after the transfer window closed. FIFA rejected the transfer and the appeal.

Remind me again. How long is the transfer window open for? When I commuted, if I If knew my train left at xx time and I cut it too fine and missed it I only had myself to blame. It not like it is one of those eBay auctions where people come in at the last minute to gazump someone else

Difference between this one and Madrids though is that the paperwork for him to be sold to Leicester has been completed on time therefore the tranfser can go ahead. They didn't get all the relevant registrations completed therefore although he is now part of Leicesters set up, they cannot play him until January. Just have to pay him though for doing nowt..

At the end of the day it's their own fault. The deadline was 11pm. They asked for an extra two hours and were granted it and yet still missed the 1am extended deadline.
Not sure how sporting think that the transfer is completed when they still hold the players registration (as they missed the deadline for it to be transferred) so what exactly do Leicester own?

They should scrap the "window" system, as far as I could see there was nothing much wrong with the old system. Mind you, even then there was frantic activity in the last few days before the deadline.

As far as I can see, the window system only helps the "big" clubs at the expense of the rest.

This reminds me of the bloke a few years who was refused a free season ticket for his daughter because she was "only 14 days" older than the age limit. He then proceeded to slag the club off mercilessly, when all the time it was his fault anyway for being a bit premature.

Yes I am puzzled - either he was transferred or he wasnt. If Sporting still own the registration he must still be their player, I cant see how he can belong to Leicester when only Sporting have the right to play him

Wasn't the deal agreed in principle in May/June only for Llorente to break his arm and scupper any immediate move? Llorente then came back from injury and scuppered the move for a second time by looking to leave which left Swansea needing to sign a replacement before sanctioning the McBurnie move. That's how I've read it anyway.

No idea where the fault lies here but it's odd that it's taken so long to come to light. Not conspiracy theory odd, just odd.
Not sure of the rules anymore, can clubs no longer arrange loan deals outside the transfer windows?
