    Agreed, that is very difficult to read and must have taken a lot of courage to write. I hope the players, fans and anyone connected with the club do him proud this season. I have every intention of doing so, starting tonight.

    My word that's a real thump into reality some on here might want to take notice and think before they post the most ridiculous crap tinged with more than just a bit of ignorant venom we all know who these posters are and they should be mightily ashamed of themselves.
    Patrick Cryne is now and forever will be a classy, passionate, generous and loyal gentleman.
    If you read this forum Mr Cryne can I just say thank you and from my family to yours God bless you.

    That was heartbreaking to read. It puts football and the opinions it generates into it's rightful place of insignificance.
    The highest respect to Patrick and his family for what they're going through.

    On the rare occasions Patrick has spoken or stepped into the spotlight, I've often been moved. A fantastic cultivator of words to convey just what he may be feeling. Funny, witty, honest and sadly much too critical of his efforts. Whether successful or not, you can't help but admire people who try, people who put their head above the parapet (especially before Barnsley brutality, unwitting or not) and people who give the best of themselves.

    Sadly, in this instance I don't have the words, or the words I do have just wouldn't do justice to the incredibly powerful, honest, humbling words that he's shared in those notes.

    However it ends, whenever it ends, all I can say is thank you Patrick.

    Have pride. You deserve it.

    Goodness. I arrived at the ground on Saturday at a similar time to Mr Cryne and it was good to see that he and his family were there. I wasn't close enough to talk to him but I would always say you've done your best with BFC.

    I think we should try every single home match this season to sing to Patrick on the 65th minute and, if it's dark enough, to light lights on phones. It was something special when we did that when his flag was first unveiled and I really want us to show continued support and love to him whilst he is still with us to appreciate it, rather than something when it is sadly too late.

    The opening words 'I am living on borrowed time' are very very sobering. I'm do not know what type of C that Mr Cryne has, and I don't really want to know, but here's hoping, almost against hope, that just like a certain Wilko Johnson, Mr Cryne can defy the odds. I'm sure that all of us are wishing just that.

    I've had my differences with Patrick Cryne.
    I've not agreed with some of the things he's done.
    But - whenever anyone writes about the history of Barnsley Football Club the name of Patrick Cryne will be forever fondly remembered.
