Patrick's comments in tonight's program are heartbreaking

For once im lost for words...other than to say my heart reaches out to PC and his family ...its hard not to be moved by those words tonight.....Cancer is a ******* of a disease there's not many families that it hasn't touched in some form or another

 

Quite simply a legend, a hero, there are no words..........
Respect.

 

Let's hope he remains involved after the takeover as long as he can. Done nothing but good for this club.

A piece written from the heart with love for Barnsley Football Club shining through. My thoughts are with you and your family, Mr Cryne.
Like so many other sentiments expressed on here tonight, thankyou for being here for the club when it was in need. A proper Barnsley guy and absolute legend - there are truly no words........

 

I hope you don't mind Troff, but out of all the heartwarming messages on this emotional and difficult thread, I wanted to reply to this one of yours. Im also not a resident of the tarn and I won't ever be, and I sometimes envy fans who are from Barnsley when they get to support this team (and be able to say its their hometown team), in the magical days like we've seen in recent years.

And thats the point Im now trying to make, the fact that we even have a team to support now and during those glory days at Wembley etc., is simply down to one man and thats Mr Cryne himself. We've known about this terrible news for a while now haven't we, and not really known what to say/post about it. But now Patrick himself has come forward and told us all officially what the latest news is, Im totally stunned and Ive tried to write this piece a few times tonight and kept dismissing it because I was just simply lost for words.

I go along with what every single fan has said on here and I also appreciate what opposition fans have said as well, and that makes me proud to say that we are ALL footy fans together in this.

Whatever happens now, this is me offering my sincere thanks and my best wishes to you Patrick, and to your family as well.

 

We owe Mr.Cryne so much, my thoughts and prayers are with him during this horrendous illness

 

Just thank you Patrick. You know what the football club means to so many people and you've stood tall throughout.

I just hope Mr Cryne is aware of what we are saying here, it breaks my heart for him to think he's not well thought of

 

I can only echo the sentiments above many times over.

Through the darkest times for the club I love, Patrick stepped in and led it, and us, back into the light. He didn't have to, and in face of the criticisms he often received he may have wondered why he did. However I fervently hope that never truly regretted doing so.

How we all feel reading that, imagine how it must have been to write it?

Patrick, you are a man of immense dignity and kindness and there aren't many with those qualities in the strength that you have them. Thank you for giving so much of your time and money for us - to give us the joy we've had watching a team to be proud of. Never mind what you feel you haven't acheived because to give us the togetherness and community of the club and connection with staff and fans there is has been truly special and incredibly rare. What more can a fan ask? Thank you for doing this for all of us and rest assured that it will be remembered fondly as long as there is a town called Barnsley.

I wish you the greatest amount of happiness and love possible. Keep on trucking Tyke.

Let's not confuse differing opinions on how the club should be run with a lack of compassion.

 

Sincere thanks Mr Cryne for everything you've done for this club, the Wembley trips, the victory in Cardiff, beating Liverpool and Chelsea, 2 promotions... None of it possible without you. You've put so much pride into following the club, and for that I'll be forever grateful.

 

As many have stated, Mr Cryne, heartfelt thanks for saving our club.

Make no mistake, without Patrick's input we'd probably be FC Barnsley rattling around the Northern Prem. If any new owners do "embellish" the West Stand I sincerely wish it's named in his memory.

'You did it all with feeling , and failure, you took it gracefully ' . Let's hope your final journey is a peaceful one

 

A truly wonderful piece of prose. I must admit I choked up reading it yesterday. He steered my beloved Reds through some dark days and yes, as he freely admits, he might have fallen short in some of the things he aspired to achieve but the Club is in better shape than it was when he first took over and that is a mark of his tenure.

 

Thank you for sticking with us when it must have been easier to walk away.
