I don't agree with you very often Phil but fans cheering their own players off in a 'you're ****, thank **** for that' way is out of order and wrong so on the Potts point I agree completely. The same thing happened to CH a couple of seasons ago. It was wrong then and it's wrong now.
I'm breaking my rule of not replying to you just to say; You clearly have not understood how the club recruits now.
Child poverty makes me angry. Steve Bannon and his followers make me angry. Religious fundamentalism makes me angry. Homophobia makes me angry. The UK's botched immigration policies make me angry. Pettiness makes me angry. Intellectual dishonesty makes me angry. People with an inflated sense of self worth make me angry. Bankers' salaries relative to public sector salaries make me very angry. Ditto the systematic destruction of the NHS. Football? Football gives me immense joy at times, but at its worst makes me mildly irritated, and a bit disappointed and cranky for an hour or two, until I put on a good song, open a good bottle of beer or wine, or spend some time talking to some interesting people. And then I get back to worrying about the things that really matter in life.
Does it make you as angry as when Football Manager get the youth keepers' abilities the wrong way round? He might have spent more on fees but that's a naive way of looking at it. In terms of net spend he's assembled a squad at a cost of about - £10m, so there's no wonder it's tough going right now.
