No I hadn't but I may have found a picture showing the very place. If I can post it on here it might help jog some memories. Unfortunately it's too blurred to make out the name but I'm pretty sure it is the building next door to Hansons

The problem is though that it is dated 1973 on this website so may have a different name to the one I'm looking for

We have a picture here and Hanson carpets and Dobson are either side, this is from the 60's cos i was working on Ray Alan's stall on the market back then. The side of the building says 'coffee bar' but the front is tricky to make out . Could be cousins? Can you post a pic on this board and if so how?

Wife thinks its Parthenon ran by a bloke called George. She worked at the one at the side of the Odeon and that was the Acropolis ran by a bloke called Paul. Paul and George we believe were brothers and were of Greek or Greek Cypriot origin.

Thanks for that but it's impossible to read the name board on the front - zooming in doesn't help either

My wife worked at the Acropolis in the 70's so it could be likely that these cafes had different names in the 60's

The Acropolis was the one on Eldon Street, I'm pretty sure of that. Lots of people are offering the name Cousins or Four Cousins but that may have been a later name.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't that during the mid-60s. This is becoming a bit of an obsession with me now. I WILL find out!!b

It was definitely the 4 cousins.it was owned by a Greek Cypriot who had a restaurant in Leeds. He also owned the Aloha in peel Square.

Can you be sure of the time frame that you are talking about? I really don’t think it was Cousins around 63-68 but I could be wrong

Now then PoR, my old man worked for Hansons for several years, including in the market. My brother in law was also with Hansons at that time. The Bro in Law (who is good on these things)is sure that the café was on Midland Street next to Hansons and was called Cousins.
