Re - Takeover Please watch the press conference before making judgements on our situation. Listen to what our new owners have to say about the club as is, and how they plan to take us forward. Yes, the incoming people are very wealthy, but they're not planning on buying Harry Kane anytime soon or changing the club's name, and just as importantly we Barnsley fans don't expect anything spectacular to happen overnight. Please don't compare us with Wigan or Bournemouth, as they are traditionally lower league clubs. We're not, we've spent around 75 years at this level, we don't need such a drastic change of direction. Anything we achieve going forward will be through the new owners improving us as a business and increasing our turnover to make us more competitive at this level. Of course it would be great to be knocking at the door of the Premier league, but we have to consolidate at this level first, and that is easier said than done.
Thanks mate, been on a 2 day bender, still haven't watched it back yet, little Lee's making it hard for me to dislike him, think there's big money available for January so who knows we might just sneek it.
Never got this. Look at Sheffield Weds. Doing well then signed Jordon Rhodes and ****** up their season. If the teams doing well not really sure why you would want to upset the Apple cart.
Cheers pal and a merry Christmas and a happy new year to you too. Was chuffed to bits for you other nigh against manure cheered you all the way well deserved as well . Hope you have a good rest of season and get one of the automatics.
Got loads injuries, don't think there will be loads of signings , center forward and a midfielder but both are meant to be big money, best news this week was josh brownhill signing a new deal.
I was reading an article about Lee Johnson in today's Mirror. Apparently last season in March, City had just one win in seventeen outings and he was on the brink of the sack. During his worst times his address was divulged on line and his family and him were forced to move house because of threats from some Bristol supporters, his daughter was bullied at school and he personally received a death threat after signing Matty Taylor from bitter rivals Bristol Rovers. It's a testimony to the lads resilience that he weathered the storm and with the unswerving support of his Chairman Steve Lansdown he has got the Club to the semis of the League Cup and must be in with a shout for promotion to the Premiership.? We take our football very seriously here at Barnsley, but I would hope that if we went on another losing run we would never ever threaten Hecky and his family to the point that they had to move house.
The thing is, Jordan Rhodes is a vastly overrated and over priced player. He's been moved from club to club for £10million as it seems everybody wants him, but nobody wants to take a loss on him. Like with any club, money is only worth spending if it is on the right player. If Bristol City were for example able to sign the sort of player that Tammy Abraham was for them last season, and it got them promoted, then no amount of money spent looks daft. I think the point I'm trying to make is that Jordan Rhodes is no longer a footballer, he's a £10million makeweight.
Understand what you're saying mate, but very few outside of Bristol will understand the pure hatred between the two clubs and the signing of Taylor just inflamed the whole thing, got too say lj must have very thick skin , the abuse he got was out of order, and unfortunately with have more than our fair share of nutters , I've always put it down to the scrumpy rotts the mind.
An old mate of mine lives in Bedminster and I visit often - particularly when Barnsley play at Ashton Gate. I've had many nights out in Brizzle and found the people to be friendly and welcoming - even with my Barnsley shirt on. Mind you I'm not sure what the attitude would be if we won....
