In our game with Birmingham, it looked like their decision was right. Marc Roberts looked like he had gone backwards.

Are you suggesting we should have turned down a fee for a player that was past his best, and which over-valued said player in the view of those making the decision.

Marc Roberts was past his best for us? What do you base that on? Him playing in one game for Birmingham?

100 per cent, HECKY stays, Sean Dyche had problems at Burnley, they stood by him NOW LOOK AT BURNLEY. Our good times are a transfer window or two away.

I was of the view that he finished the previous season poorly. His strength was his pace, and he seemed to have slowed. As for his current level of performance, I can only judge him on one game because that is all I have seen him play. Given that you question my judgement, what evidence do you have that we made a mistake?

Well our defence conceded 4 goals today

Fundamentally he was sold to prove people right.

And we condeded just one in the previous three games.

What's with people overreacting after a single result?

Our defence conceding goals does not prove anything
I doubt that people feel that they have to prove anything. I certainly do not. Our defence conceding goals does not prove anything about Marc Roberts. We were conceding goals at the back end of the previous season with Marc Roberts. There is little doubt that our team as a whole is poor, but hopefully we will correct that this month.

That depends on your character type

We are weaker without him and made our task harder.

I’m not overreacting. We’re discussing why Roberts was sold

I'm sorry but I do not believe that you were party to those discussions, and consequently, what you are saying is something that you have heard third hand. Instead of believing the worst, why don't you try giving the benefit of any doubt to the professionals who run our club and whose motives are to make decisions on what was best for our club.

Being abroad at the moment I wasn't at Millwall. I haven't yet seen the score but reading all on this post I'm guessing we lost. It's what usually comes after a loss.

In my opening remarks I said that you cannot manage a football club without one eye on the balance sheet. It is the easiest thing in the world to criticise when you have inadequate knowledge of all the factor behind a decision. Now, I am not suggesting that I have access to all of those factors, which is why I keep coming back to competence and motives. You will not be able to prove that the Marc Roberts decision was wrong without full knowledge of the reasons that drove it, and equally, I can never prove that it was right. I am simply saying that I have faith in the competence and motives of those making decisions at Barnsley FC. If you do not, then you can never be happy with anything and you will always find fault with something, no matter whether it is important or not.

Is there a professional qualification in running a football club?

I dare say that given you were an accountant you are as qualified as the previous custodian.

I think that the fact that the previous custodian ran out of cash speaks of the need to keep an eye on the balance sheet, doesn't it.
