Then we really would need 5 goalkeepers.

He was a figurehead on an elected board not a custodian

What grates me is the fact hecky gets all the flack for the situation we are in has a club.
....PC went on record saying PH is being given the Role of Head Coach this frees him up from a lot of managerial tasks..
..he then failed to say what those tasks were and the knock on effect it would have on PH role to enable him do the job that most folk relate to a managers job doing
It's been well documented that at one time the board decided which players joined the club hence Blackwell walked out of his interview many moons ago
....under Robins he was promised a transfer budget only to find out there wasn't really one in place until he went out and brought 3 players in told the Don he'd given them guarantees of 20.000 a week ( he was joking) but it made the club sit up and sort it..
.. I posted years ago that MR said there were better run conference clubs than ours..
and to be honest PH comments that things off the field had to seriously change seemed to back up what MR had said years previously to me.,

WELL things have changed big style..... New owners...New owners who have stated openly they will free up cash for wages to enable us to compete in this division

Wages were the stumbling block before and always will be to some point it's the way of the world.

That said if PC had relaxed his strangle hold on the wage structure who knows what might have happened...but that's all in the past and we can only second guess

Just like the employment of players that we have seen recruited we once again can only second guess P H role in the process
...as a manager you would think he and he alone is responsible for recruitment but he's the head coach a man free from certain duties to allow him to coach.
We know we work off a spread sheet we got told PH has the final say but how clear cut is that final say
Do they present a choice of 2 players....Player A or Player B Both of same ability both same stats on spread sheet and say choose which one ....

on the continent most of the club's have a coach who are provided with the players and are only responsible for the coaching and game plan..not the recruitment
..unfortunately for us if that's the case at Oakwell and we can only second guess that's were it walks hand in hand with the spread sheet
THEN.... it would explain away a lot of the problems PH as been known to highlight and shout from the roof tops about that too many lower ability players have been expected to step up and preform on a stage that calls for them to over achieve.
...too many recruited for the same position ...
.Now we have New owners let see who comes in let's see if the standard picks up

More importantly let's give Hecky space to work with a higher class of Player...
Judge him when you know all the facts not when you are trying to second guess.... who knows even my opinion could be classed as me second guessing but my opinions come on the back of facts that have taken place previously not on pure simple guess work

    Give the bloke time

A very good summary of what I too believe has happened at the club.
Manager... full responsibility for choosing new players.
Head coach... no choice, or very little. Do as we say or we'll find someone who does.
New regime now... same old ideas or brand new, for us, thinking? We'll see.

I'm sorry, but I spent hours arguing this point last night with someone who knew exactly as much as I know about this subject - and that is nothing. All that it did was to convince me both that I wasted part of my short life, and of the futility of debate on the BBS. I shall not be returning to this particular debate this morning.

I disagree with the sentiment that we are weaker without Marc Roberts.

Of all the players we lost last season, I think he is the one who we miss the least.

I think we miss his leadership on the pitch. Centre halves are replaceable I’m not sure leadership is. Sometimes that can’t be replaced.

I agree that we miss a leader. Gus is a much better leader than Davies but neither should be captain in my opinion, its one more thing we need to look at recruiting.

As a defender, I don't think we're worse off at centre half at the moment. Whilst Gus's form hasn't improved on last season, nobody can argue that Jackson's did. Lindsay seems fairly solid and Pinnock, whilst only a few games into his reds career, looks to be a good find.

We have no captain anymore do we. We have Davies who it's debatable whether he should be starting right now anyway but he is definitely not a leader. A lot of that is down to his position but a lot also appears to be down to his character. No disrespect to him, some people just have different strengths.

I'll also say something that a lot won't agree with. Lindsay has been vastly overhyped and has had some shocking games. His distribution at times has been the worst I've seen in a Barnsley centre back for many a year.

I agree in general about CH. it’s more in the context of constant change and losing the little experience that we have as well as leadership that we suffer. Sometimes the sum is better than the parts.

I think too many people who are interested in the club think that they are or pretend they are the chairmans best friend and that they know everything about the financial dealings and day to day dealings and running of the club.when we all know absolutely nothing about players contracts wages etc etc.We only know what they want us to know and rightly so that's nothing . Because its private and confidential info.Would any one here be happy if their employer told anyone about their salary and pay structure let alone told the chronicle so all Barnsley new.NO .so why do you think that happens at a football club we can all guess what a player earns but the only people that really know are
    1.the Player
    2.maybe the Manager
    3.whoever signs the check
so why do you all try to be experts in the running of the club. Ive lost count of the number of people who know the clubs business better than the club itself

Just for balance, I DO believe Hecky is as good a manager as I've seen in my fifty seasons of watching Barnsley and Liam Lindsay IS a very good player who will only improve &, in my opinion, will be sold sometime in the future for a hefty profit.:)

Oh yeah just to clarify I rate hecky but I don't think he's the brilliant wonder that some have built him up as. He's a good young manager doing a good job.

And Lindsay is a good young player but isn't the brilliant finished article that a lot seem to describe him as. He MAY go for a lot of money in a few years but the same could easily be said for Ethan pinnock, Adam Jackson and Jason McCarthy. I don't think he's anywhere near the standard of Roberts yet (yet being the key word) and that's where the plan is flawed because it expects you to maintain the same performances whilst replacing developed players with undeveloped ones. Something has to give, either the plan has to be flexible to keep some of the developed players or relegation must eventually be accepted as the plan in its current form isn't sustainable at this level

I agree with both of you. Hecky is great. He has done a brilliant job under difficult circumstances. At the same time he is human a relatively inexperienced person doing a hard job like all of us he will make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.

Lindsay I have already seen enough to agree with you on that one but he will get better with experience and a bit more coaching on his passing.

I believe, and this is only my opinion, that Lindsay is better than the likes of Mawson, Roberts, MacDonald & Jackson were at the same stage of their Barnsley careers. Are there parts of his game that need to be worked on? Of course there are, it's the same with every player. None are, or have ever been, perfect.
I believe Hecky is an excellent Head Coach, who has had to deal with numerous adverse issues beyond his control, as well as having to do his own job. If others think differently, fine. I've no issue with that.
