The current transfer window makes this a stupid time to make changes A.new incumbent would not have time to assess deficiencies and identify resolutions Besides that paul hecKINGbottom is an outstanding manager and any change would be a downgrade
Isnt the consensus that Hecky has little or no say in who comes in.. Whether true or not, I don't know But most in the ..Back Hecky camp.. are using this as his... Get out of Jail free ..card.. But if it's true about his transfer input, it would make no difference to the transfer widow dealings if he went or not..
We're already deep in it.... All the Hecky is king brigade need a reality check were struggling and have been since last January his fault or not he's going to be questioned if he is the right man to take us forward. (I hope he is but you can't argue with the stats these last 3 months or so) We haven't recruited well enough and he has to take some blame for that and the pressure that comes with it from the fans. I don't particularly think a change in manager will make things any better if we are continuing with the same strategy as before the takeover but I do think people will get fed up of watching us play poorly and get beat most weeks so something has to change wether it be in management or to the playing staff. Since the takeover we have been told by the new owners they want to increase revenue streams and get people to the ground early and staying after spending money but I would say to them without some success on the pitch people won't come and certainly won't turn up early. Speculate to accumulate and give us a team we want to watch and can compete at this level and if that means dipping into the millions we've made in transfers over the past few seasons or into their own pockets then so be it. I'm not saying follow wolves but we need to loosen the purse strings slightly to give hecky the chance to manage a team like the one he had before Christmas last year and show what he can do. I'm expecting some players in next week who have experience at this level and can keep us up then we really need to sit down in the summer and decide wether we want to struggle every season or compete at this level.
In my opinion ....several things 1 if hecky hasent had a say in the team he needs to either grow a backbone and stand up for himself because to be honest he hasent had a boss so far this season and no other manager would put up with this ***** recruitment policy or lack of 2.if he has had a say then he needs to stand up and be counted because signings across the board have been terrible. 3.Idont believe that the whole squad has been desimated without his knowledge or permission. 4.he may be a savvy coach and a great bloke but teams need a manager or a figure head not a mate who is one of the boys. We are struggling now and he needs to either man up or be replaced .the new owners wont be sentimental heads will roll if they aren't good enough
Re 1, 2 and 3 - what options do you think were open to him? Put up or piss off is abart it. Re 4 you’ve no idea if he’s seen as “one of the boys” or not. Total *****
oh and by the way we need to strengthen in every area we only have one goal scorer and he doesn't play every game and we give sloppy goals away week in weekout
Does anybody ACTUALLY know what input Hecky has in player selection and recruitment? All I'm aware of are hints and speculation. For my point of view, as head coach rather than manager, much of the identification of potential targets is done by others but I doubt players are forced on him. Equally he goes to loads of games himself and I'm sure if he spots someone he likes he can make a case for signing them. He may have minimal input in the financial side of the negotiations but other than that I'd say he's involved. I don't believe he's presented with a bunch of players and told to get on with it. The fact that every player who comes through the door comments on how impressed they were with him and how much he knew about their game suggests he's hands on in recruitment.
I'm confident he is involved and does have a say. I do think it is a case of if you aren't on the list then you're not getting in.
Yeah, probably true. I'd imagine he does have his own suggestions sometimes but they will only be taken into consideration if they fit in with the recruitment policy set from above.
We all wait and see what happens now. I.e have we changed where we are shopping. Even bringing in the better league 1 players would be a step up from the summer.
