He’s got great technical ability and can run past players with his deceptive dribbling pace and there’s still chance he can improve further. He does need to work a bit more off the ball though.
Hes a whipping boy at the moment. In ine instance today the ball.was passed to him and it was two yards behind him yet everyone eas shouting like hell at moncour
That was because Wolves hit us on the break and he was sulking about the terrible pass rather than defending.
Thats not rhe instance that im refering to . This was in the centre circle gardener immediately Won the ball back
For every one that is behind him, there are at least 6 he does not come for that are in front of him. Unless the ball is passed to his feet he is not interested and has the heart the size of a pea. He simply is not good enough at this level.
Talented player who we should persist with until the management decide they can’t take him any further. They clearly still hold some faith in him as they keep playing him and have sent some of his potential challengers for the place out on loan. Personally I think he has all the ability required but not quite the mentality to be more influential. He’s not lazy, he’s overthinking where he should be and what he should br doing.
Was happy when we signed him. I see a lot of quality in him. I will be equally happy if he leaves as I don’t think he wants to work hard so that those qualities shine. While ever he’s here he has my support.
I think he is trying hard to play in a way that is not familiar to him. Barnsley players need to run about more than probably any others in this league, especially midfielders who need to be up and down. Because we aren't as talented. I don't think he's special because he can't pick a pass like special players can. But I do think that because of his hairstyle he sets himself up as the kind of player he actually isn't. He's one of those players who looks better in a winning team. But I saw him trying today.
He does beat potts in every topknot and tattoo contest. In footballing terms I think Potts effort and application is better. Moncur could be a better footballer, he just needs the heart to get the ball.
The fact that he is not starting regularly would suggest that he is not the first choice and whilst I appreciate that he might be trying to play a style that is not familiar to him: however he does train with that same team every single day so perhaps given his time at the club he should be familiar with style of play.
I meant "play" in terms of the actual physical effort for the position he plays. Hourihane was taught how to play for us in a certain way, and left a much better player than when he arrived. Perhaps all this is a bit beyond Moncur. But I do think he's trying.
I want any player who pulls on a Barnsley shirt to do well, but sadly some won’t and unfortunately I think Moncur falls within this number. I would love him to prove me wrong as I think if he showed his true potential he would a great asset to the team
Fans around me were unfairly slagging moncur off today when it wasn't his fault a bad pass was played to him but that was supposedly moncurs fault. He is the fans target at the minute like davies which is wrong but he can either get the monk on or do something about it. Gardner Yiadom have come through it so can he. Today though I thought potts moncon and Bradshaw were not quite good enough which shows how well the others played.
