The shed! I'd forgot about that one. Classic, my mate used to say we had signed the shed to replace Dwayne Mattis as it probably had more to offer.
Lovely idea... But... this is Barnsley. Ok for an hour before the match but imagine we lose miserably in February who would want to stay behind to enjoy further torture? The emphasis needs to be on the pitch activities, then the rest will follow.
It's possible to do two things at once. The guy who installs a scoreboard doesn't pick the team. The builder knocking up a new bar isn't up front on Saturday. Quite why people believe a multi million pound business can and should have tunnel vision towards one goal and one goal only is beyond me
If you think about the people in the exec boxes, they just dont turn up for 90 minutes, they turn up for a day out. Meal and a few jars beforehand, bit of entertainment, lots of chat, match, MOTM award afterwards and maybe another jar or two. I've never been in one, so not exactly sure on details, but the gist of it is, they have a good day out and if there is a good result, that's all the better. Why shouldn't it be the same for the wider audience? (but on a cheaper scale)
At the very least, I'd expect to hear some different pre-match songs over the PA. I'll have a wild guess and say that for the next home game I'll be treated to Red Hot Chilli Peppers, AC/DC, and Emerson Lake & Palmer. Just a shot in the dark...
You'd be surprised. I've got a friend who's completely lost interest since the move from Maine Road and subsequent takeover. Missing out on FA Cup final tickets while knowing full well newcomer fans got them was the last straw for him.
