UOTE="Conan Troutman, post: 2072128, member: 54154"]Why would you "expect" Moore to be influential? Hopeful yes, but expectant?[/QU Simply this James , many fans on this board have been crying out for a big striker who could give us an option we did not have , I echo these thoughts & if he did a reasonable job , I would hope he would be influential in our performances . I do not expect him to be a world beater but yes, I think he could be influential , fingers crossed
I really think the biggest thing would be to get another keeper, we can live without Harrison whateverhescalled, but if we keep Davies in net until the end of the season on his current form then I think we're in big trouble.
We need to get at least one more winger in to replace Barnes, or its 3 at the back again... I like insgrove and hedges but they are both fragile.
I feel similarly to others along the lines of we potentially have the makings of a side capable of staying up, but it's hard to ignore actual facts like our win and goal ratio. I largely feel this is simply down to not finishing chances and therefore any mistakes at the other end cost us, rather than us being overall a poor side. We've nearly got it right but what we get wrong is costing us dearly. Fine lines.
Sign Gardner on a permanent basis as he seems to have grown into the role and doing a good job. Then Gardner/Mallan priority as they would be our own players. Williams as a stand in.
It's not unreasonable to expect the law of averages to kick in and us suddenly have a run where we convert more than one chance every couple of games. I just don't know when that's going to happen though. Thiam has 0 goals from open play, Bradshaw's goals have dried up, Moore is an unknown quantity at this level, our wingers and midfielders don't contribute goal-wise. Their overall play is ok generally, they just can't hit a cows arse with a banjo. We may as well stick Pinnock and Cavare up front the way things are going.
I'd say our goal ratio is down to lack of chances created I'm surrised Bradshaw has scored as many because in many games he hardly gets a pass to his feet all game just a big hoof from lindsay. Also when playing 451 you want your midfielders to help chip in with goals I think brad potts is our top scoring midfielder on 3?
Couldn't agree more. Some on here are never satisfied unless we have half a dozen players coming in every window. We might not be in a great position league-wise but that will improve as the months go by. The players we have are developing, bit by bit. Comfortable survival is all I expect this season, and that is achievable with what we have. If one or two more come in then that will just be extra interest, nothing more.
S The problem with your senario is that results dont reflect your assertion that the players are developing in the right way. Forgive me if I'm wrong but results wise we have got poorer as the seasons progressed not better.
I inexplicably omitted to mention that we’ve signed Pinillos who sounds like he’ll be a fantastic addition to the first XI, provided that we’re able to effectively manage the obvious fitness/injury issues that have plagued his career thus far. Mallan is another fairly recent addition in terms of his first team involvement and one that appears to be growing into the role. I think we’ve got a fine player on our hands. Potential for a remarkably different and arguably more competitive matchday squad come 1 February than the one that we saw on the opening day of the season despite only adding two new additions during this window up to press. Plenty of reasons to be positive and there are still six days left in which to bring in a new goalkeeper, a winger (or two) and a striker.
Exactly right. I’m as optimistic as anyone on this board but If anything thinks things will just change when there is no evidence to suggest it doing so are crackers. We need better players to keep us up than we currently have. A big week ahead.
I was surprised by these stats. Similar shots per game as Wolves and similar on target, we are one of the teams who has more shots outside of the box. Their £50 million attacking force will probably be the difference, mind. https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/2...TeamStatistics/England-Championship-2017-2018
We all know the stats. The stats do not suggest we are just a bit of good fortune away from going on a winning or even a decent scoring run. Where are we are for one reason - we are bad side and the players are not good enough. Hecky has achieved a minor miracle keeping us out of the bottom three, but we are one result away from being it. I think (hope) we have just enough to get over the line but it will be a close run thing. Anyone who thinks that our strikers will start banging them in, that we aren't in a relegation battle or we don't strengthening is in cloud cuckoo land.
It's irrelevant what others do we can't score goals for toffee so there a fair chance we won't gain thirty more points yes seven wins five draws at least needed so wake up smell the **** of league one creeping up.
It only takes one game to change fortunes. Suppose you were same in league one about relegation before we went on a huge run of good results and got promoted. Im pretty sure what was said by hecky was that we started to tighten up and then build on bits of confidence. Recently we've tightened up a bit, now we will start to build bit by bit like we did 2 years ago. Tunnel vision is what you have. Some faith is what you need.
